I don't think helping people kill themselves is murder.
And I don't understand the big deal, why shouldn't people be allowed to kill commit suicide if they want.

You can't die from ME.She murdered her daughter, where do we draw the line, can we murder people when they have Flu?

Didn't she want to die though.
Wouldn't it be awful to want to kill yourself but be unable to do it. Have you seen Million Dollar Baby?

Euthanasia is not murder.

Euthanasia is not murder.
She wasn't suffering from a terminal illness.

No.
Gilderdale, 55, initially tried to stop her daughter ending her life following a 17-year battle with the chronic fatigue illness ME but backed down after she said: "I want the pain to go."
Assisted suicide/euthanasia are totally different to murder. This person WANTED to die, had tried to do it herself and asked for help.

You have no clue how much she was suffering, you don't have ME. And reading that,it sounds horrible. The poor girl.

Neither do you.If you google it,some DR's don't think ME exists!
Life is hard, sometimes life is a bitch. It dosn't mean we should be allowed to kill eachother.

We have the right to dieIf you can do it yourself,no problem(and do it properly and stop wasting NHS money!) but if someone murders you, thats murder.

But it isnt murder if you ask them to do it is it?
It is aiding your suicide.

It's not black and white, you know. The girl wanted to die,she asked for help. Her mother helped her die because she was in horrible pain. There's a difference between that and murder.

The daughter was in constant pain and wanted to die. That is her choice. Not yours. She had tried to kill herself before - so wasn't a one-off moment of desperation. She couldn't take it any more. Quality of life is very important - just being technically alive doesn't count for much. I'd like to see you living in that state - before you dictate to others how quality of life is irrelevant. What are you trying to suggest - that the mother didn't love her daughter and was just trying to get rid of her. Nothing about the case indicates that - quite the opposite. She risked going to jail to end her daughter's misery - you can only hope you never have to make such a decision.

The fact that it isn't terminal makes it worse as there is no fore seeable end to the pain.

Things like this aren't Black and White, If the woman wanted to die then it's not murder, by definition murder is a pre-meditated killing with Malice. Since the victim wanted to die and the accused was only complying with her wishes then it's not murder. The courts have ruled in this and anyone against it has to accept it, if it was murder chances are she'd have been done with it as there would be a lot of evidence against her.
Whether Euthanasia is wrong or right is an entirely different debate.
She wanted to die.
End of argument. Pack up and go home.

It is a mercy killing. She WANTED to die. There is nothing worse than feeling CONSTANT pain in your life.

I sincerely hope you are never in the postion of being in constant, debilitating pain 24/7 with no hope of recovery and only a painful and long drawn out death to look forward to. Life isn't just about how many more years you could have, but whether the quality of life is there. I reserve the right to end it all if I were ever in that position. That mother did the right thing for her child, and fortunately for her, her daughter's wishes were well documented in advance. Otherwise a serious miscarriage of justice could have arisen. I hope I would have the courage to help a loved one if I were ever in such a terrible position as having to watch them in constant torture.
Not every situation is black and white and common sense and compassion have to be exercised.
