It has lacked tension and excitement, novelty, surprise, and anything else that made the good ones.

It's been one of the poorest, the poorest.

Intelligent answer is that is is great, nothing more. The series has been very entertaining and humourous with a good mix of people.

You are i tyhink the ONLY person on the forum, this and DS who didnt enjoy the show tonight, and in general, everyone has very positive feedback on the series.
Newspapers, critics, celebs.... they all have praised this series.

We don't need to give you intelligent answers. It's all down to opinion.

You make it sound like a fact that this series has been awful. That's simply not true. It's all down to personal intelligence. Nothing more. A man of your enormous intelligent standing should know this.

I just cannot see what you see in this CBB

It is so tame by past years.

The McCririck one and the Galloway one were the best.

Its been amazing.

The ratings speak for itself, that alot of BB Haters from summer have enjoyed it too.
So much people in school who use to rip on me for liking BB, now say this is the best one ever.. I just disagree and say 'Go watch BB9, 6 and 7' but it is the best CBB.

The HMs have been great, Big Brother has been amazing.

Shirley Jones is a god.

BrooklynFan
26-01-2010, 11:19 PM
to be honest I've watched many of the youtube episodes of previous years CBB and this is both the best and the worst.

it's the best and worst precisely because there is no tension. there is no coolio, jade goody (rip), shilpa shetty, pete burns, and so forth. some people love good old tension, some people cant stand it. BB has done some really devious things in previous years (like evicting Jackiey straight from the diary room w/o shoes), and this year they've been really kind compared to that.

It's been the best because the housemates are ACTUALLY GETTING ALONG, and everyonde LOVES BEING THERE. last year, everyone was pining to get out from the get go. there was such a male/female divide, and no one really connected.

It's been the best becuase of the tree of temptation. utter genius.

it's been theh worst because the tasks were really lame. and there was no shopping task, save for the first 2 weeks. hardly any creative and performingt tasks. They coudlve done a talent contest and made jonas, sisqo and dane compose a song, stephen, vinnie and steph compose an improv sketch, nicola and katia model, sov rap, etc. they didnt. aside from the first friday, there was very little in the way of creative performances.

it's been the worst because the celebs have been REALLY boring, and very z-list compared to previous years. there have been no strong women, no loudmouthed young brash guys, no backstabbing, no hating... and that what makes it great in my opinion. I was cringing through most of CBB5 and CBB6.

I appreciate your musings Brooklyn fan, but everyting you highlighed about past CBB's demonstrates what's been lackingin this one.

It's been tedious because nothing's happened in this one.

I loved Tracy Binghm being slewed by pete, Galloway's poor me.

This series has been so tame. No friction, no friction, no friction.

This series has been so tame. No friction, no friction, no friction. that's what makes me like it. Vinnie's bitching is friction enough for me. I cried a lot through the Jade Goody footage. She was mean, but Shilpa was very stuckup and sensitive. It was blown out of proportion. Every time Jade cried I cried along. And after I saw the clip of her finding out she has cancer while in India, I couldnt sleep at night. I just can't watch any part of CBB5 anymore now.

So publicity automatically makes things better? Even if it was for all the wrong reasons? Even if it creatively slaughtered the franchise with censorship that killed Big Brother 8 and essentialy played a major part in bringing the audience of the show down to a third of what it was at it's peak?

BB11 Is the last series on Channel 4 this summer.

Link the Axe of LF, Low ratings all together and it brings you straight back to the cause of the problem.
CBB5 and Jade Goody.

If she had just **** and piss off, instead of wanting more money.. Then we wouldnt be saying goodbye to Big Brother UK.

CBB5 was the first nail in BBUK's coffin. More people than ever watched it, because it inspired a morbid fascination in viewers not dissimilar to being unable to look away from a car crash. The series was plagued with manipulation, cover-ups and lousy PR. Big Brother has never recovered from it.

I asked you if you would have liked Big Brother 5 - not Celebrity Big Brother 5 - without the media controversy.

But I will take your answer either way as proof of my point. You said you still would have liked the events in the house within the press controversy. Thus proving press involvment does not make or break a series and it's entirely possible to like a series with no press coverage if one feels the series has been entertaining. People feel this series has been entertaining.

How much clearer could I make it?

In discusing CBB, I though you were shorthanding.

Not at all. It's just a tired format.

No.

If it was a tired format CBB7 wouldnt be so popular.

Jade ****ed it up and then the producers axed LF incase anyone was racist.

Their far too PC now because of Jade.

Its JADES Fault and the producers for thinking it would happen again, but Emily on BB8 did it no good tbh.

So its nothing to do with the format, because if the format was old then BB around the world would be tired.
But the UK has the best BB, the only reason its axed is because fans dont watch Because Producers have ruined it with their PC ways.

Patrick the format is getting old. And Big Brother is on a downward slope worldwide. Check the facts before you get into these things.

The Australian Big Brother has been axed.

The German and Dutch, amongst other international versions, have seen ratings go down year in, year out.

and BB5 is 3 characters.
Indeed it is. Would you like a chocolate medal to bite into?

So why blame CBB5?

I have watched CBB 3.4.5, hijack, and 6 this one is just about as good as 4 which was the best. CBB5 had its moments but as a whole it was an average series and CBB6 was the absolute worst. This series has had great tasks, the tree of temptation, and a likable cast which has been missing from big brother for a long time. The reason this series is so great is because the cast is likable but they don't all get along yet their not arguing but there is tension so it is a well balanced cast. However if this series was longer and the evictions more spaced out it would of been a better series as tension would grow and arguments would erupt.

You have a real attitude Nemo. Most on here arent as young and stupid as you think.... "dont wet the bed", that just proves how far your maturity is... its probably at 0

And you said "CBB5 didnt make the show go downhill", urmm... yes it did.

It wasnt a coincidence that the ratings fell from that year onwards until BB10.
This series is the first series sicne BB6>CBB4 to actually increase its audience from the previous.

CBB5 WAS the first nail in the coffin, petitions asked for BB to be stopped on a whole in the headlines, called it appalling and a dreadful show. Thats when the negativity started, and the ratings reflect that.

My only problem with this years BB is the Housemates are recently going to bed or in bed during the Live Feed. The brains in the BB department should have nipped this issue in the bud years ago, not like the Housemates are going anywhere. Keep them occupied during the night.

Once again : Nobody needs to give you reasons. If they enjoyed the series it is entirely within their right. Why do they need to defend their choice to you? Do you think they are lying for ***** and giggles and they all in fact hate the series?

Even if they do give reasons, your just going to do your best to deconstruct every one of them anyway, still ignorant of the simple fact that it's down to PERSONAL OPINION.

I thought with all your life experience and intelligence you would have gotten that by now?

KAROKE KAMAKAZI!!!!

Not in the same league as, for example, George Galloway deconstructing Michael Battymore's character, "poor me, pour me a drink". Or McCririck telling Caprice she was a cash register thru the medium of the secret room. Or that fellow in the eg suit, or, "yeah Brackie!"

It's been a terribly lame hyped up series.

The Housemates Are likeable
Sov VS the whole house "Suck my titties"
Stephen converting Alex
The Round About Task when Fish Guts and Curry was splashed at them
Tree Of Temptation Tasks... all of them.
Ivana's Grandma dancing with Sisqo
Stephs reaction when Heidi's name was called out to be evicted.
Sisqo VS Vinnie... and his playhouse
Stephen with the mousetraps and Vinnie stuck in the phonebooth.
Making Ivana believe that the award was real... Steph breaking it.
Alex's Tan
The complete public opinion of Vinnie and Alex, in opposite ways to one another.
Heidi's comments and outbursts.
The montages on the show are brilliant.
The way the launch was done.

I think that is more of a "couple" of things.

min·u·et (mny-t)
n.
1. A slow, stately pattern dance in 3/4 time for groups of couples, originating in 17th-century France.
2. The music for or in the rhythm of the minuet.
3. A movement in 3/4 time that is usually the third, but sometimes the second, of a four-movement symphony or string quartet.

You said throwing in a montage was tarting up the show. The montage covers, at best, one sixtieth of the total show time. It's not 'tarting up' a whole lot, is it?
