It's not an action taken to better the forum, but rather a backlash against certain members just as a pointless demonstration of power. Why is it censored? Is there any verifiably positive moral and/or ethical reasons to come out of the act of censoring it? Why is the forum intent still on attracting kids? The forum is not suitable for kids nor is the forums subject matter. You know, that bit after http://www.thisis.

Why have these questions gone unanswered? Has a thirteen year old ever countributed, one or two exceptions aside, anything but trolling insanity? Then why protect them and encourage them to join? Are they going to slot right in next to the discussions about foreplay and the disguised racism that festers in the Serious Debates section, or something? Is Ghostinthehouse going to take them to one side and teach them about the wonders of adulthood?

It cheapens the forum. Someone who returned to the forum when Big Brother (10) was on actually said that the amount of swear words in topic titles made the forum look tacky. It's a bit like text speech, we could allow that easily but that cheapens the forum. I added '****' to the censor because I noticed someone was adding it a lot to topic titles.


People don't like to be sworn at, it can look aggressive when written down and cause more arguments. The point about PG films isn't really relevant because swearing in films is spoken and can easily be ironic or comic. More difficult to tell on a forum.
