A reality TV show about the residents of Notting Hill has been lined up by Channel 4, as it searches for new formats to replace Big Brother.

Cameras will follow around 10 “highly engaging” members of the public in near “real time”, with episodes screened the same week they are filmed in order to keep discussions topical.

The “characters” will be mostly in their twenties and thirties, and will live close to one another within the iconic West London area, made famous by Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts in the 1995 film Notting Hill.

The area, home to such high-profile figures as David Cameron, the Tory leader, was also chosen for its ethnic diversity.

I don't like the sound of it, it sounds too much like Real World. I'd have preferred them to try out some new dramas or comedies rather then reality shows.

It doesn't sound anything like The Real World.

The Real World is in an artificial setting and appears scripted

This is more like C4's 'The Family'.

Its copied the Real World more than Big Brother, I`ll watch it but tbf I would rather watch the Real World because if its in London I cant be ****ed getting a head ache from all those annoying accents.

I do hope this fails though, along with C4s other **** new shows, just to annoye them :D

How does it sound like The Real World at all? Real World is pretty much the same as BB in terms of concept ... this is a fly on the wall documentary

Real World - 8 people live in a house, 1 episode a week, not a competition, takes place in a city, cameras flow them live there lives, character in there 20s

Notting Hill - 10 people live in a house, 1 episode a week, not a competition, takes place in a city, cameras flow them live there lives, character in there 20s and 30s

Because its just following people around their day to day lives and its going to air in real time- ie as though its live.

The Real World is just Big Brother in the way that its in an artificial setting and edited

Incorrect. Notting Hill- 10 people who live in the same neighbourhood followed around their day to day lives whilst its shown in real time so it will just be literally an hour of their life rather than a montage of the week.

Plus this isn't fake. MTV "reality" shows are notorious for being scripted.

The Hills, The Real World, My Super Sweet 16th etc ... all scripted.

You're saying one thing isn't the same ... thats the intrinsic format.

I have seen it. It's all set up, like all other MTV shows. In it's early years, it wasn't. But know it's just another ****ty, scripted surreality show.

Yes.

if it is acting why would the actor who was previously in the army get called back on the show and then spend a year in iraq not being filmed?

Noone ever said it was acting. I'm not denying people audition to get on the show. I just think its staged and dramatised.

at the end of the day anyone that will happy watch Big Brother but refuses to watch The Real World because its "fake" is a hypocrite
