View Full Version : Spelling and Grammar!

Jessica.

Spelling and Grammar mistakes are starting to annoy me so much!

It is fine if a member is dyslexic or something similar, that is understandable!

Being young is not an excuse, people should be able to spell by the time they are 13!

Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, I know that, but when every post by a member is unledgable it gets on my nerves and is just plain ignorant!

I know people are going to say 'it doesn't matter' but it matters to me!

This doesn't apply to most of the members but there are quite a few that it does apply to!

I am not saying this to be cruel and I don't have any one member in mind, I just find it very difficult to take a post seriously if it looks like it has been typed by my 5 year old nephew!

A few typos now and again is okay, but constant spelling and grammar mistakes can be terribly annoying.

There aren't many people out there who know all the grammar rules of this language and strictly follow them, I think my grammar is good but it's not perfect. So long as I can understand somebody's point, I don't see the point in lambasting them for their lack of grammatical knowledge.

As long as someone can type a sentence that I can read in English and with basic punctuation, spelling and grammar, I don't really care.

Jessica.
07-02-2010, 06:45 PM
I never said I was perfect! I think people who don't care should try a little bit harder to make their posts understandable!

The only thing that really grates on me is when people get confused between:

'your' and 'you're'

'there', 'their' and they're'.

Same lol.

But I have some pet hates lol.

I hate it when people forget apostrophes e.g. Dont should be Don't and NOT Don`t.. lol

Also hate it when people forget accented letters, e.g. Beyonce should be Beyoncé. But I understand people don't know how to get those letters, so I don't moan about it.
