View Full Version : Was BB8 really that bad?

Yes ok it went down to BB4s level after Chanelle and Charley had left but up untill then it was actually rather entertaining with its nightly fights, no?

It was quite a poor series, but I remember these boards being quite hilarious when BB8 was on.

It was ****.

Nothing to it, it had potentital but most HMs were ****, BB was far to PC because of that wanker Jade that went on a few months before BB8 so it was doomed once she started her whole Race Row in CBB5.

Its just great that things started improving after this terrible series.

I will rewatch it though one day but it was crap.

Chanelle: "Ohh Charley go sleep with a football team"
Charley: "****ing Black, Black, Black, Black, Black thats all you ever wear, get some colour in you life"
Chanelle: "Well i think black might be better than no trousers"

ILoveTRW
08-02-2010, 10:33 PM
i suppose its only downfall was the amount of housemate that brought nothing to the series

the only worthy housemates were, Chanelle, Charley, Billy, Shanesaa, Brian, Emily, Leslie and Shabnam

and even a few of them are a bit questionable

Im not trying to make anything out, You can just go read every other BB Fan site, On Youtube etc aswell no one likes it just look at the advert coments.

IKR

If Jade hadnt went on CBB5 and done her bollocks, then BB would of just gave Emily a warning and that would be it.

But because of what happened in CBB5 it was far far to PC.

Chanelle wasn't missed simply cause she did ***** all

Charley's arguements ruined the house of some great moments

Emily's racist word ruined the house of a battle between her and Chanelle

too many of the guys got along which did ruin a great part of the show

the Twins sucked. Sorry if they were in amy other BB they would have gone earlier

Over 5m people tuned in to the final, so to say EVERYONE hats it is obviously wrong. And you say that everyone on fansites and youtube all hated it, but my friends who are all casual viewers had no problem with it and thought it was better than BB9/10

it was alright, the only problem was alot of the housemates has similar character and were young fun and easy going, so they got on ie Brian Ziggy Liam Samanda so highlight shows could be a struggle because BB wasnt doing alot through the series either. I dont remember any really good task's from that year either

Captain.Remy

It was good, probably not the best series but still was great. I never understood why people thought the All Female launch was bad. I thought it made a nice change and this twist was taken by some international versions.
The housemates were fine, they all hated each other except a few. They probably had a fight every night and the Fake Week is one of my fave week/twist ever. Charley was awesome for this twist.

So yeah, I've got nothing against it to be honest. Much better than BB7 at least.

I'm watching it for the first time and enjoying it. I think that after chanelle and charley left it went downhill; no one remotely interesting was left. It's such a pity chanelle left then; her arch nemesis charley was finally gone! Plus she never got an interview with davina which really bothers me.

I want to watch this after I finish BB10 and BB11 (since by the time i'm done with BB10, BB11 will be starting). Is it really that boring? From clips and stuff i've seen, it seems interesting. And I love how crazy the house design is.

MrGaryy
18-04-2010, 02:16 AM
BB8 wasn't boring, at all, it was just plain depressing. It was like a mix of BB7 - far too much of everything, too many housemates, too many ridiculous twists, too many spin offs - and BB6, where the housemates clearly all hated each other.

The only difference was that the housemates were so depressed and irritated by each other that it wasn't even fun to watch. Carole absolutely sucked the life out off the younger ones, Chanelle, Ziggy and the Twins in particular. The winner had been chosen by the producers by about week 4, and tbf, he would have won anyway due to the fact he had ZERO competition, all the the others were certainly not winner potential. I mean honestly, Ziggy, Jonty, Carole, Tracey, Charley, Billi, Shanessa, Amy, Shabnam, Jonathon, Nicky, Kara-Louise, ect. none of them stood a CHANCE at winning.

The house itself became really dull and dirty looking by the end and omg. The tasks. the tasks were HORRIFICALLY bad, like nothing I've ever seen before on BB, just so totally unentertaining, pointless, overtly elaborate, boring.

I honestly think Emily could have saved the series though.

I finished the entire thing and I must say I really enjoyed it. I loved the house design, loved the all female week, loved Ziggy and Liam and the twins. I happen to have loved the tasks, I think they were original and fun (the 7 deadly sins, time machine, BB quiz and so forth).

It was worse than BB4.

BB4, simple and boring as it may be, it tried new things like the first night nominations, double eviction, housemate swap, rewards room, sending Jon back in.
It only lasted 9 weeks so was over fairly soon, and the HMs were nice people but weren't the liveliest bunch.
The house was actually nice and the logo's okay - seemed too big a deal for the 4th series when we knew there was gonna be a BB5 and 6 too though

BB8 just rehashed stale ideas like countless hidden rooms that added nothing (the caravan, that small room by the pool, the dreaded half way house). The fake week might have been the only good experiment.
It lasted thirteen and a half weeks so dragged out longer, and the HMs were quite ghastly. All female launch wasn't a hit. Ziggy as the first guy and 'heart throb' was like a slap in the face with unwanted testicles. Bringing Gerry and Seany in to further frustrate the girl HMs and viewers was yet another p*ss take. Then more guys came in, but consisted of a thick attention seeker, a billionaire bore, a moody male model and an irritating alpha male tree surgeon who did not deserve that money 5 misn after he stepped through the door. Then the final five were pure car crash TV wannabes. I still have nightmares about Jonty and his Monketty Tunkitty.
The house was just too small and square, even for viewers, and the eye was just hideous and too much

BB4 did some damage to BB's reputation so BB5 picked it up again, but after CBB5 BB8 was just complete overkill and was a big turn off. BB9 tried to undo the mess but it already lost viewers

BB8 was one I just caught in the beginning and then intermittently until catching a some of the end.
So I am not claiming to know what might have sucked.

From the parts I did see I did think it was great. I regretted I did not get to see it straight through from beginning to end,
but,
maybe I was just lucky to catch the best parts and happened to miss whatever really sucked bad heh

Yeah the house design and launch twist were rubbish.

But Charley and Chanelle were very entertaining, I liked it, wouldn't say loved but no way whatsoever was it as bad as people think.

I agree with Smithy, Patrick.

I'm like, really excited to watch this after BB11 tbh. Would you guys say BB8 was better than BB11?

I've already seen so many clips of it and it just makes me want to watch more. And I think i'm the only one who LOVES the house. It's out wacky and modern, and I think BB8 also has the best intro of any BB season. Everything about it just seems great, it just seems like a classic Big Brother season.

I'm am watching it right now.

I absolutely LOVE the house, the graphics, and the eye. My favorite of all-time right now which is definitely making things enjoyable. I also like every housemate so far apart from Tracey, Laura, and Carole.

And I think i'm going to like it since for me it's coming after BB11 which sucked.

I also love the all female launch because I ALWAYS prefer female housemates to male ones.

So I don't think i'm going to trust those opinions lol and i'll probably end up loving BB8. Because I thought BB10 would be bad based on what people said but I absolutely loved it.

Don't let your opinion of BB11 cloud your judgement of BB8. While BB4 was boring I think some people make that out to be worse than it was because it was sandwiched between BB3 and BB5, 2 of the most watched and popular series.

I agree most female HMs are more entertaining than the men, that's probably why they're voted out first. But the all-female launch just spelt trouble. It was still kind of a social experiment but it was also gimmicky, meant from the off you knew there'd be more newbies going in later, and a lot fo them were either fame desperate or anxious/aggressive

Joelle.

1. Who the hell cares if the girls were fit or
not (apart from you). Good body and looks do not make a great housemate. Personality
and character do.

2. Clearly not everyone did hate it as it got better ratings on average than BB9.

3. Is there really any need to be so rude? Other people have opinions and should be allowed to share them without you shooting them down. Jeez!

Don't know what the big fuss is about Shabnam and Lesley.

Yeah they are somewhat entertaining, but they are also highly unlikeable.

Lesley is overrated, she just bitches and moans about everything. And Shabnam is a fame-seeking bitch. "If I walk...does that mean I won't get any, like, deals? Like magazine deals?" and then acting all excited when she's up for eviction. Nobody bothers me more than people like that who come in and then say a few days later "I wanna leave" or "I'm fine if I go". Maybe that's why I don't like the two of them.

And even if Shabnam hadn't been evicted, she would have walked anyway.

So far all of them are good housemates though except for Carole and Tracey and maybe Laura.

I can tell i'm going to HATE Carole and Tracey later on though. They are already starting to piss me off.

To be fair to BB8, BBUK has been pretty sh!tty since, BB8 was the beginning, but BB9, BB10, and BB11 have been total crap too.

Performance tests

These included a memory test, a clock test, which measured their perception of time, a reaction test and a stroop test, which examined their mental agility. The two people that showed the strongest drop in performance had to face off in a live challenge that evening, the loser being evicted from the house.
[edit] You Snooze You Lose

Every day a contestant was chosen by their peers to endure an hour-long "You Snooze You Lose" challenge. These included:

A relaxing massage
Cuddling a giant teddy bear
A bedtime story, repeated again and again
Watching paint dry in a warm, comfy chair
Counting sheep on a television
A lecture on trigonometry

Adverse reaction

Though research has gone into the effects of sleep deprivation nobody knew exactly what to expect. Hallucinations and odd behaviour were evident quite quickly in some contestants. Numerous contestants suffered from both hypnagogia and hypnopompia (both essentially dreaming while awake, normally just prior to or after sleep).

Chris believed himself to be the Prime Minister of Australia and also thought he was on the set for the popular Australian soap Neighbours.
Jimmy got angry when the others refused to put on their Japanese armour and play with an imaginary ball
Dean and Jonathan were convinced their clothes had been stolen
Clare S thought she was in a tube station
Dean nearly fell over as he started to succumb to sleep while still standing

Made me laugh ..... :joker:
