Yet barely two months later, Ronnie Wood and Ekaterina Ivanova appear to have rekindled their love affair.
The Rolling Stone spent a night with the 21-year-old Russian at her Central London flat last week.
The 62-year-old guitarist arrived looking distinctly down at heel, wearing a scruffy fur-lined hat with ear flaps and a black trench coat.
He waited in the cold for several minutes after buzzing the intercom at the flat, making a brief call on his mobile phone.
When Miss Ivanova - known as Katia - opened the door to usher him in, she was dressed just as casually. The former waitress was wearing a pair of dowdy, blue-rimmed spectacles and a large Russian-style fur hat, with a thin shift dress and thick tights.
Miss Ivanova gave Wood a broad smile and embraced him with a kiss before they went inside.
He left the flat early the next morning, when he was collected by a chauffeur.
An eye-witness said: 'Ronnie looked pretty nervous when he showed up at the flat. He was looking around and had to wait quite a while for her to open the door. But Katia was obviously very pleased to see him.
'It makes you wonder how serious their split really was.'
Miss Ivanova has managed to cash in on her relationship with Wood very successfully.
She sold her story to a newspaper and last month appeared on the final series of Celebrity Big Brother for a reported fee of £100,000.
Miss Ivanova met Wood when she was working in a West London champagne bar in 2008, and their relationship led to the end of his 23-year marriage to former model Jo in July last year. The romance with Miss Ivanova came after Wood, an alcoholic, began to drink again.
The 18-month relationship was characterised by 'Jekyll and Hyde' behaviour from Wood.
Miss Ivanova described how he would give her expensive gifts, but on other occasions turned on her, once calling her a ' golddigging *****'.
It came to an end last December, when Wood was arrested after assaulting Miss Ivanova in the street near his home in Claygate, Surrey. He slapped her, dragged her along by her hair and then held her by her throat.
She said: 'He pulled my arm so I fell over and he was dragging me down the street. I sat on someone's doorstep saying, "Leave me alone, don't touch me."
'He stood over me saying, "You stupid ******* bitch." Then he slapped me, hard. I burst into tears. I was in total shock.'
Since the split, the couple have been linked with several other partners. Miss Ivanova flirted with Swedish DJ Jonas Altberg on Celebrity Big Brother, and even shared a bed with him in the reality TV house, although her antics did not endear her to the show's fans, who voted her out first.
She has also been linked with 22-year-old male model Dan Turner.
Meanwhile, Wood has been seen with a string of women. He propositioned a passer-by outside a West End restaurant on Boxing Day and the girl, known as Camilla, is thought to have spent the night with him.
Then he had a three-day fling with PR girl Hannah Kamelmacher and took her on a less-than-romantic date to watch the Masters Snooker tournament at Wembley Arena.
She ended the fling after it became public, reluctant to be at the centre of attention with a Rolling Stone.
Then Wood hooked up with a third woman, Brazilian architecture student Ana Araujo, 30. They were seen at a variety of restaurants and spent time at the Ham Polo Club in Surrey, where she teaches the sport.
