Leona Lewis expecting Brit Awards snub

Leona Lewis has admitted that she expects to leave the Brit Awards empty-handed tonight.

The 'Bleeding Love' singer has yet to receive recognition at the annual ceremony, despite securing six nominations over the past three years.

Lewis is up against Bat For Lashes, Florence And The Machine, Lily Allen and Pixie Lott in the 'British Female' category this year, but insisted that she doesn't expect her fortunes to change.

"If I had to put money down, mine would be on Lily Allen," she told The Sun.

"It's nice to be nominated but I've never won one and it's by no means the be all and end all. I don't need that kind of approval."

The 24-year-old claimed that winning The X Factor in 2006 and being associated with Simon Cowell has affected her chances at the Brit Awards.

"Because you've done a television show people think that you're not cool," she said. "It's really weird. People who vote for these things tend to vote against Simon Cowell and I'm not sure why. But people who go on these shows get up every single week and perform live and for me, that's the main thing."

The Brits Awards are broadcast on ITV1 at 8pm.

I honestly still can't believe she hasn't won one. She's one of the most successful British soloists we've had for a VERY long time.

I've really warmed to Leona recently, but she doesn't deserve a BRIT award this year. Ironically, she probably should've won one when she was nominated last time.

This year however, I believe the other four females are all stronger.

like Darenn, I've really grown to like Leona :P, the Echo era is so much more interesting than anything she's done before.

But she most definitely does not deserve to win over Lily, Bat For Lashes and Florence, she's not even in the same league as them.

She wrote her entire album by herself, executive produced it and played most of the music on it, all to 5 star reviews. She's been nominated for the Mercury Prize, twice.

Leona's hardly of that standard :/

no? you don't get record deals at the brits school. it's just a school which teaches performing arts and the compulsary study. for x factor you can't have a signed deal i think.
