you could not make it up.
This from the Government's human rights watchdog (wtf) a 68 page report, no doubt costing thousands.
Official guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission warns schools that the dress code may breach the rights of girls who feel compelled to live as boys.

It cuts both ways though doesnt it? There is a logical extension to this.
There is little mention of Boys having to wear trousers, yet presumably there are boys who would prefer to wear skirts. However if they did wear skirts would they be bullied, would the good order of the school suffer.
Once again the nanny state interferes and common sense is pushed to the side, surely the uniform code of any school should be left to the Staff and Board of Governors of the School, for private schools and the Local Education Authority for State schools.

Schools shouldnt force girls to wear skirts anyway. Not all girls like skirts.
They should have a choice, same as boys...though if a boy decided to go in wearing a skirt...on his head be it...kids are cruel, and he would recieve no end of bullying...but if he choses to do so, so be it.
I'd wear a skirt if I could go back to school now, with nothing on under it.

Completely agree, what a stupid report, yes of course girls can wear trousers but not for the reasons they are saying, or therefore boys should be allowed to wear skirts and any bullying over it should be a punishable offence. But to be fair a boy wearing a skirt is funny.

Our school had long down to the ankle skirts!
Almost everyone wore jeans/trousers/tracksuit/pyjamas of choice under the skirts.
We had to wear socks up to our knees so we could tuck the ends of them nto the socks and nobody would notice.

Schools should not force girls to wear skirts cos pants are much more practcal and comfortable. I used to hate it when I was at school, it'd be freezing cold and lashing rain and we'd have to wear a short skirt ggggrrrrr
