View Full Version : TiBB has changed a lot over the past year

I've just noticed. A Lot of the older members have stopped posting as much and we have a whole new influx of familiar members that either did not interact as much this time last year, or have joined the forum recently, not that I'm complaining :). This time next year there will probably be a whole new group of members that do most of the posting.. with the odd few older members sticking around. I think the new forum style has changed TiBB a lot aswell. It feels a lot more like a community now, whereas in the older forum it seemed like everyone stuck to talking in smaller groups. Does anyone else think the same?

I agree PJ there are still many cliques of people but it seems as though the members of these cliques have branched out a lot more and are discussing things with members they didn't usually talk to. It's nice to see that people are socialising a lot more!

Yeah Andy.. I miss the old generation of members!
Right, I'm off to eat some cheese on toast and watch Dancing on ice! Wasn't Hayley amazing yet again.. I hope she does a really fast song next week, I would have loved to have seen her do Bad Boys!

I think some of the old members would still be here if they hadnt been banned :p
This always happens; evolution of the forum. People either get used to the change or are forced away by it; it'll always happen as long as new people sign up.

To be honest, I miss older TiBB.
It was just really innocent back when I joined.

I disagree, I think if anything it's pushed people further apart. I guess I sort of miss old tibb, it was a lot more interesting. I mean thats not an insult to the newbies I like a lot of them, its just I miss the days of BB eye comps, house designers, graphics stores, [well run] forum games, crazy Britney fans, opinion threads, ect.
I don't have a preferred time on TiBB; I just roll with the changes as they come, which I think is why I've stuck it out for so long, there's nothing to complain about if you don't get wrapped up in it.
I don't really prefer any. Some old members still annoy me loads and so do some newer members. This forum is like a soap opera 24/7 it does my head in at times but I just deal with it.

i used to be a lot closer to people ON the forum, where-as now i'm really closer to people on MSN. i miss the old days, but it's a forum so not going to complain really.

It pisses me off, how I spent most of Summer 08 watching BB9 LF while on the PC sometimes browsing here, to think I could of joined back then :(
So annoyed at myself for not.
I'm not gonna say I miss the old TiBB... I just don't have the desire to post here anymore. Nothing makes me want to post really. I read a lot though, I miss some of the people who are no longer here, like Hannah... she had me giggling so much on here. Suppose its always going to change, the older members grow up and younger people take their place lol.

:S I don't know where you've heard that but it's completely inaccurate. There was just as many active regulars if not more.

Well as someone who was here during BB9, I can verify that wasnt the case. it was VERY active, site crashed the whole time.

It does actually seem like last year there was more newbies than ever, maybe I'm just imagining it though. I do miss some of the older members but not everyone is going to stick around.

sometimes you do need a rest from the forum and probably some people have new reltionships or jobs that keeps 'em away

Don't know what it was like before it must have been good:) but I like it the way it is now... i've only joined this year so for now my opinion is void;).
More people should join and it's a shame when people leave but hopefully they come back:hugesmile:.

Although my join date does not say it, (The date is wrong!!!) I have been here since even before XMB, well I vaguely remember there was a re-XMB age, Mark and James will correct me if I mis-remembered this.
A number of the old guard who have gone were middle aged ladies, one of whom was Romantic Old Bird who died of cancer. They had a certain fixation with a certain couple from Big Brother 2, and it was sad when that romance ended after five years.
During that time the board was declared as the friendly board, but it has become nastier as some of the new crowd have come in. In the old days we hardly had any Ad Hominems, but in one thread, the one about the pilot in Texas who crashed into a federal building, I have seen a lot of insults flying around.
There is no call for that.
We have got a younger mix of people here, and that has lead to a decline in decorum I have noticed in recent times.
When we had the old guard some of the best times was off season, but now it seems as soon as a BB finishes, the newbies depart almost immediately, some never to return. And here I would like to mention something about the IDs people adopt. In recent years they seemed specific to particular series of Big Brother. That did not happen I recall in my day nearly a decade ago.
As for the forum software XMB to VBulletin, well there was not much choice after the hacking last year. It is not the forum software that makes the board but the contributors, and with the loss of the old guard and the quality of some of the newbies, TIBB has really changed in temprement in recent times, and not always for the better.
