grat show tonight simon was on top form as usual
I never normally watch X Factor, Pop Idol, or anything like that, but I did watch X Factor last night. I couldn't believe that Louis and Sharon wanted to put that Chico through. And what about that couple who they said no to, and they were saying that Simon is talentless and should go back to working in McDonalds?! I doubt Simon would give two hoots about what they thought - he's the multi millionaire after all, not them! The bit that made me cringe the most was when that girl went in at the end, and they said no to her, but she was begging them to give her a chance because singing was all she was any good at (although I beg to differ - her singing was not good at all) - her mum, fiance and sister literally went down on their knees, begging the judges to give her a chance. I was watching through my fingers, I was so embarrassed for them.
yer she was c**p
stupid cow, why should she think that she is special enough 2 beg through auditions.
The fiancee and mother and sister were just as bad - setting themselves up for disappointment by saying i know shes gonna win the x factor - how stupid do you get
Well done judges

Ruth, agree with you that Chico was awful cannot believe he has gotten through at all.
The first show was good,I've only gotten round to watching it because I was out for the weekend.
For anyone who missed it heer's a little re-cap:
The new series kicks off to an eventful start with the London and Manchester auditions, in the hope of finding the act who has "The X Factor" in 2005.
The three judges - Louis Walsh, Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne - heard the first sets of auditionees, and we saw both the talented and the talentless.
34-year-old Chico sparked off the rivalry between the judges of the day. Simon had rejected him, claiming "that was awful" but was later outnumbered by Sharon and Louis, who decided that he should go through to the next round. Simon told Louis "You're making a fool out of yourself, gentleman!" after the audition.
The next auditionee, Andy, received praise and a unanimous vote from all three judges to go through to the next round. He auditioned following his shift as a binman - could he be giving up the day job?
Boyfriend and girlfriend Michael and Della, known as club act "Spirit and Destiny" were rejected at auditions by the judges. Disagreements between the pair and the judges prompted the security guards to usher the act out of the room. They later entered the "X Factor Pod" to vent their frustrations.
The final act of the London auditions was 16-year-old Alexandra whose rendition of "Saving All My Love For You" proved popular with all three judges. Another highlight included boy band " The Brothers" - these sparked a fight over which act would get the groups in time for Boot Camp.
The Manchester auditions saw dairy farmer Justin get rejected at the first hurdle, but he later returned in drag as "Justine" after a suggestion that he "came back as a woman". If his singing doesn't get him noticed, then the drag act will!
16-year-old Trevor, who arrived with his entire family, was described by Louis as "more natural than Ronan". Even Simon had something good to say about him, saying he would "sell a million records", and Kate found it unbelievable of Simon to pay such a compliment!
The most bizarre contestant was Howard, who claimed he could "resurrect John Lennon's voice". That unfortunately caused him to be rejected from the show.
The show ended with 19-year-old Sarah, a girl who was determined to follow her dreams and be a success. Unfortunately, her image and voice weren't what the judges wanted, and despite a mass protest from her fiancé and family, she was another reject. She took the news hard, breaking down in tears after the audition.

His picture had been in a few of the papers and there was a lot of fuss about him, even before the series had started. I didn't think he was anything special at all, really. He reminded me of James thingy, the 'child prodigy' antiques expert who had a sex change recently. I think Trevor from week one was far better.

The former. He (the 'child prodigy') was on both Trisha and This Morning (receiving a make-over) last year I think, and there was also a documentary on CH4 with Keith Allen, too. He pretty much lived with the family for a week or so, and at the end exposed them for being fake and suggested that their various businesses were shams - although he put his case a lot more forcibly than that. He confronted the entire family around the table, and managed to outwit them all at once. It was, quite seriously, one of the greatest moments in tv history. And I absolutely despised Keith Allen, prior to seeing that show. Little Lady Fauntleroy (http://www.borkowski.co.uk/e-release/fauntleroy/).

Yes I remember that antique dealer - he's a woman now isn't he? I hope he's happier in his life now than he seemed to be when he was younger.
The four year old kid was cute last night, but I thought the best one was the woman who had previously sung on the Meatloaf record - what a brilliant voice!

The 4 year old kid was cool but just can't help think that he cost someone a genuine place in front of the judges.
The "MJ lookalike"'s name is James Belemy and is in fact a mate of Cassie from last year's show. They went to the same school.

Yeah teenage girls, but when they get sick of him they'll move onto someone else and that's exactly what's wrong with these formatted shows. He was OK,not spectacular.

that old lady ! OMG!!!
I thought it was daft to put the old lady through. She's not exactly going to appeal to the people who watch these shows is she? It was a bit of a gimmick I think.
I think the best so far was the woman who sang on the Meatloaf record, and that group called The Brothers.

Yer I agree, he's not even the best looking. Teenage girls have other people with more poppy voices and more attractive than him. I could never see him making it in America! He's got an okay voice but in comparison to people like Lee Ryan, Lemar and Will Young he's not even in their league.

Nobody has been outstanding yet, I liked James Bellamy, 4tune, the brothers, Alexandra and Tariq and a couple others.
What have looks got to do with anything? Have any of the people you mention made it in America? Robbie Williams couldn't do it, so the magic formula for cracking the US market is still a mystery to most. Lee Ryan's voice isn't spectacular by any means, and his solo material is even worse than the dross he churned out with Blue - who would've thought that was possible? Will Young has an extremely average voice. He has no range whatsoever, and his vocals, like his personality, are dull beyond belief. He's no oil painting either, and nor is Lemar.
James Bellamy lisped far too much, and his voice wasn't anything to write home about, either. He was also very irritating. 4Tune actually managed to turn in a worse performance than they inflicted upon us last year - they were truly painful to listen to. The Brothers were patchy, and their harmonies were out of synch. And is there really a market today for doo-wop? Alexandra was good, but I've no idea who Tariq was at all.
Trevor may well crash and burn when it comes to bootcamp, but he's head and shoulders above the likes of James the lisping lamb as far as vocal ability is concerned.

LOL! I just wanted to slap them and say 'JUST SING THE BLOODY* SONG, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!'. I can't stand all that arrogant cod skat dancing around the song. It's just cover for a lack of ability when it takes four voices to churn out something that poor.

I do think Lee Ryan is over-rated, and the stuff he's doing now is worse than Blue were, which is really saying something! The only way I could watch Blue was by concentrating on the gorgeous Simon Webbe!
I think Will Young is very good at what he does, although it's not my kind of thing at all. I think Lemar is great, and very good looking.
Can someone remind who James Bellamy is please? I can't bring him to mind at all:conf: I wasn't particularly keen on 4Tune. I didn't watch X Factor last year, so didn't see them on that, but didn't think they were that good this year. I do think The Brothers are good though. They have a lot of potential. I like Alexandra, but I also can't think of who Tariq is.
I did feel sorry for that young girl last night, who Sharon had the row with Louis about, but Louis was absolutely right - she could not sing at all. He was quite harsh, but she's at stage school, so clearly wants to make it in the entertainment industry, so she's going to have to get used to a lot more rejection than that. In any event, I thought her mother seemed very pushy and it did make me wonder if this was really her mother's dream, and not the girl's dream.

I know everybody knocks Simon and how harsh he is but thats why I like watching him. 90% of the time he is being honest and espeically at this early stage in the show he needs to be blunt with people. I think they should make a new rule where people who audtioned last year can't re-apply for 2 years after they audtioned. I personally think it is unfair how many of this years appeared last year...meaning they have alot of experience of bootcamp etc and know what is to be expected so they already have a big fan base and knowledge of how the show works.
I think Simon is brilliant. People say he's nasty, but like you say GlitterEyes, he's only being honest. And if they really want to make it in that business, they are going to have to get used to people being a lot more brutal than he is.
GlitterEyes

Can I ask who is everyones favorites so far from each age group? :spin2:
Mine would have to be Shane not sure what age group he is in, Trevor & James, The 4 lads (but not the ones who appeared last year the other one.)
Does anyone stand out in the older catogory yet? I cant think of any I like from that...
There was a guy in the first show called Andy. He was a binman I think. Anyway, he is in the older category, and I thought he had a great voice. I also liked The Brothers (I think those are the ones you're on about GllitterEyes). Out of the younger category, I like Alexandra.
And almost forgot the woman who sang on the Meatloaf record. I don't remember her name, but I thought she had got a great voice. But has she got the X Factor though? Time will tell....
I liked Andy from the over 25's too Ruth, he picked a good song as well which suited his voice. There was a group with two brothers who have been trying to make it for a while who I thought did well but the younger brother should have done it on his own as he had a far better voice and proably a better chance of going further. I liked The Brothers best from the groups and from the younger group I liked Tariq who was only shown on the xtra-factor but he had a good rock voice.
I see this year there will be 12 people in the final with 4 from each group.

I can't picture this andy...what did he look like? What did he sing?
The Meatloaf woman was a lady with blondish hair and in her 40's.
Andy was black and bald, in his 40's and he sang a song called Song for you, I only know of it from a guy called Chip Days who sung it on American Idol 2.

No, the woman from the Meatloaf record had long blonde hair. I think her name was Janet something, but I'm not sure. Anyway she had a cracking voice. But I remember the woman you're on about - it was so funny when she said "We've come away for a dirty weekend and so far it's working out pretty well" or something like that!
True, there will be a lot of competition in the under 25's category.

i didnt think it was that good tonight
The woman with no teeth was truly awful - I cannot believe that she actually thought she could sing! The three girls were awful too - where the one girl sang, and the other two just clicked their fingers.
I didn't think the glamour model had a good voice at all, but she did choose a song with very high notes, so maybe the judges could see that she might be better with a more appropriate song.
Nobody tonight made me think "Wow." Well not in a good way anyway.

Oh yeah the two girls, Vicky Pollard and Co, they were well funny. Simon said: "You look like a stretched version of her," I was PMSL.
And yeah the "trio" like the Supremes, that was hilarious aswell. The erm..big lady...she was awful anyway and why did they sing Amarillo?
The Vicky Pollard thing was funny. I thought it was even funnier afterwards when they were arguing about Simon.

I think Chenai is going to do quite well this year because she is a lot better, she needs to keep up the high standard though.
I still think Alexandra should be in the finals, but I'll have to see more of her at bootcamp tbh, she is very very good though.

I really like Shanea. They called her Meg on the show, the lady with the blue and white dreadlocks. She posts on my XF forum and she's lovely.
Last night's show was hilarious again though. But there was some good acts. Like the woman who brought her child in she was very good.
I didn't like White Star, they were just a bit plain really and the arrangement of their song was awful too.
I though the three girls from Liverpool were quite good, I'm surprised only one of them was let through.

There was a girl on Saturday's show called Hieffer (not sure if that's how it's spelt), and she was really good, and got through. Anyway, I'm sure she was also in the first series of Pop Idol and got into the last 10. Does anyone else remember if this is the case? I know the girl I'm thinking of in Pop Idol was also called Hieffer and had long curly hair like the one on Saturday, and it's an unusual name. But neither she nor Simon seemed to recognise each other, so I was a bit confused. Anyone know if they are one and the same person?

There was -
Korben, Jessica, Aaron, Laura, Hayley, Zoe, Rosie, Gareth, Will and Darius.
But i remember a Heifer on a singing contest too and im also positive it's the same girl. I have forgot the show but it was on BBC1 a while back and she was really good. When i saw her on X-Factor i remember str8 away so it must be but i an't think of the prog *thinks* !

James is the poor man's MJ, he also has that lisp which makes him sound worse. Trevor's voice just annoys me.
I don't know why but Chico just makes me laugh and he's pretty entertaining, anyone see the clip of next week with him in the fountain at Sharon's house singing Vida loca

ta for that Dan. I have trouble remembering their names at this stage. I thought the groups were shabby this year to be honest. There wasn't much in the way of variety. They were a bit same-ish. Nobody stands out to me yet. But, it's early days. Maybe once the stylists have had their claws into them, they might be better. Sometimes, an image change makes a huge difference too.
I agree with you about James' lisp. Also, and I know this is shallow, but, he is an ugly boy and he looks about 10 years old. Image is a factor in the entertainment industry, let's face it. Michelle McManus is 10 times better at singing than any of Girls Aloud, but its GA who are having hit singles, not MM. I'm not saying that GA are not good, but image is helping them to stay in the public eye.

I can't really remember much about Brenda and Maria apart from their original auditions. 4Tune are good, although not my type of thing really. I must say I'm surprised that Journey South and Addictive Ladies have got through, but The Brothers haven't.
I can't think who Phillip is:puzzled:
