View Full Version : Beyonce and her father are thieves, tbh.

i've been pretty vocal about how i hate it when beyonce gets so much recognition, when actually she's a proven thief just to get song credits and it seems like another song writer has spoken about it! and her father is known for paying off award shows and stuff to get her awards, so i got past that a while ago. she even takes credit for single ladies, which the producer revealed she had nothing to do with and ironically she won 'song of the year' at the grammys for it, which goes to composers.
Some people may choose to turn a blind eye to it, but it’s no secret that superstar diva Beyonce has a reputation for lying about her abilities as a songwriter, and has even been proven on multiple occasions to have not written some of the music that has her name on the credits.
Well now popular producer Rob Fusari (best known for working with Lady GaGa) has publicly put Beyonce and her father Mathew Knowles on blast for lying about the #1 hit “Bootylicious”, which Fusari wrote and produced back in 2001 when he first trying to make a name for himself in the industry.
I came up with the idea to build a track using the guitar riff from Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen.” I really wanted to play the riff from “Eye of the Tiger,” but I was flipping through my CDs in the studio and I couldn’t find it. But I saw the Stevie Nicks CD and I remembered that the riff was similar.
I figured I’d put the guitar loop on there temporarily, and later go into the studio with a guitar and replay it, because I’d learned, after sampling Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish” for Will Smith’s “Wild Wild West,” that I didn’t want to lose 50% of the publishing. I vividly remember telling Mathew Knowles, “Mathew, you got to book me into your studio and let me replay that riff.” It was Guitar 101! One note!
He didn’t want to do it. So 50% got cut for one note. That whole experience was bittersweet for me.
He then continues, recalling an incident in which he saw Beyonce on TV taking credit for the song, which then led to an altercation with her father Mathew.
I remember watching Barbara Walters interview Beyoncé about “Bootylicious,” and she told Barbara about how she came up with the idea for the track. And I was just like, “What?” I called Mathew-which was a big mistake; I got emotional, and I apologized after-but I called Mathew and said, “Mathew, like, why?”
And he explained to me, in a nice way, he said, “People don’t want to hear about Rob Fusari, producer from Livingston, N.J. No offense, but that’s not what sells records. What sells records is people believing that the artist is everything.” And I’m like, “Yeah, I know, Mathew. I understand the game. But come on, I’m trying too. I’m a squirrel trying to get a nut, too.”

I think she is an amazing performer, great singer and stunningly gorgeous. I dont actually care if she wrote her songs to the extent she claims. She cant be brilliant at everything.
And Bootylicious isn't one of her greatest hits IMO so its no big deal if she didnt write that one.

Epsecially with the Halo / Already Gone argument.

Don't forget about the Crazy In Love, Deja Vu, Irreplacable, and If I Were A Boy thefts too!
THIS is why I've always disliked Beyonce, she's way too overrated as an 'artist'.

Very true. So why does she feel the need to pay to have her name in credits etc? It's deception really.
Beyonce is amazing. The songs would be nothing without her regardless of who written them
You could say that anyone who has a song written for them is deceiving their fans by calling it their song.

I just don't see the need to do it.

The entertainment industry is a dog eat dog world. From film to TV to music, everyone copies ideas from somewhere else. You have to be pretty naive to believe otherwise.
true words from tom i don't care anyway she amazing and she is an amazing performer and does songs ALOT of justice

Yeah I know that as I am not naive thanks. Doesn't make it right though does it?

Well that makes 99% of singers/groups/producers wrong. If you're going to take the moral high ground it isn't just Beyonce at fault here. In fact far from it
If what she releases is good then its good and I'll listen to it. I don't care where its came from. If it sounds good that works for me.

thats completely ridiculous. Anyone who has a grasp of music knowledge knows someone like Britney didn't write her hits and not to mention the fact that songwriters choose to give their songs to her [just using her as an example]. The writers of some of Beyonce's biggest hits did not give their permission and Beyonce has lied to her fans and everyone saying that she wrote those songs.
this is why I can never listen to Beyonce love.

I'll admit, I like some of her songs: Sweet Dreams, Single Ladies etc., But I'll never vote for her. She doesn't deserve the awards she wins.

Actually there are loads of artists who claim to write their own songs or at least don't give the impression that someone writes them for them. Likewise the other way around too.

but at least Britney isn't trying to fool anyone, perhaps her fans might like to try and make her seem like a musical revolution but she's never made any bones about the fact she'd love to have a stronger voice and her album credits are the truth, she doesn't pretend to write her own music.
I like how you so easily spout **** about 'loads of artists' who thieve people's songs yet can't actually give me any solid examples.

Britney doesn't steal songs from people. And she hardly wins any awards anyway.

I like Beyonce although I didnt know she did this, and admitingly I disagree with it. However a lot of artists dont right their own songs so its not really that big of a deal imo, sure the actual songwriters deserve more credit than they are currently getting.

Not really taking the moral high ground, I just don't see the need in taking credit for something you haven't done, let alone pay for it. You obviously don't care. As we can see from this thread, others do.

I can't understand how people can compare these two situations. Somebody singing a song someone else wrote and crediting them fully is not the same as somebody stealing a songwriters song and taking credit for writing it [and most likely, not paying them what they deserve]. One is fair and just and the other is an at of total dishonesty.

I hate it when you think a singer is reallly nice and humble, and then you hear about how much they are a diva. I loved Mariah Carey and then realised what a bitch she was by reading magazine articles about her.
