Which set of channels do you prefer, the BBC's or ITV's?
I like several programmes from both sets of channels so I think the fact BBC has no breaks gives it a slight edge over ITV. :)

I prefer BBC, down with ads.
ITV
I only really watch BBC3 whereas I watch ITV1, 2 and 4 & GMTV (separate channel)
I don't watch TV so much these days though, the next thing I'll religiously watch is Britain's Got Talent which doesn't start for another 5 or so weeks

"GMTV (separate channel)"
Not any more it Owned now by ITV.

Its an ITV owned channel that is technically different to ITV1. Its like saying ITV1 and 2 are the same because they're ITV owned.

Well the BBC has a mixture of crap and good stuff and are notorious for paying talentless jobsworths like Jonathan Ross, Chris Moyles, Russell T. Davies and Chris Evans obscene amounts of money. The sad thing is that the BBC serves an important purpose and it is running itself into the ground with bad decision-making.
ITV on the other hand is pretty much 100% crap. Crap dramas, crap soaps, crap game shows, crap comedy, crap reality TV and invariably the unwanted leftovers of imported US shows. This all in spite of the massive budgets ITV spend. Obviously there is the odd exception like the so-bad-it's-good Take me Out.

BBC has no ads, and has Eastenders.
ITV Has Take me out, Harry Hill, X Factor, Im A Celebrity.
It has ads, and they are currently fixing the the BSAs.
So both have their **** parts especially ITV.
But on the fact that ITV has alot more to offer and more shows.. then ITV.

I can't think of one ITV show I like.
BBC, however, has Jonathan Ross, Being Human, QI, Have I Got News For You, Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Beautiful People, The Bubble, That Mitchell and Webb Look, Psychoville, and it screened some of my favourite shows of all time (The Office, Extras, Fawlty Towers...)

Its weird but it is ... but its ITV owned which is why theres so much association with ITV. But its why its GMTV News/Weather and not ITV News/Weather and hardly ever see ITV1 promos during GMTV, and never any of the ITV adverts (like man on boat in a lake thing) in the adverts. And its why even at weekends there is always the 9.25am start time rather than 9am or 9.30am. You'll probably notice it now I've said it

It's funny to think that even back in the day, the BBC could brag about having Cook & Moore, Monty Python and Fawlty Towers while ITV had... err Love Thy Neighbour.

Channel 4 was absolutely fantastic later on though. Friday nights on 4 used to be unbeatable.
Then it just seemed to take a nosedive in the 2000's. The comedy began to suck, the number of mediocre US import shows shot up and the channel became infested with dieting and lifestyle shows.
Oh, and T4.

Oh, and T4.
The beginning of the end for C4 was when they axed Brookside. Thats when things started to go wrong for them. But they managed until about 2006 especially with shows like Big Brother, Sugar Rush, Friends, Friday Night Project etc but they murdered their biggest hits until they became stale. They were also still innovative with things like Space Cadets, Shattered, E4 Music, the BBBM rip off Russell presented (but never worked out) etc but these days they're just stuck in a cycle of property shows and imported repeats.
Yep Tom your right there wasn't one itv advert during GMTV this morning.

BBC has a good mix of programs for all tastes and ages..
ITV is very tacky with their programs, which is fine as they aim for the dumb market of the UK.
