Right, just recently my laptop fan been a lot louder than usual. I've tried leaving a lot of space between the fan and a surface so as not to block the vent but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
I always have used my laptop on my lap and I'm aware that it gets hot, so I'm assuming that is what has caused this?
Also, today the volume keeps dimming to low level at points when I'm playing music.
Is there any way I can stop these problems? Is my laptop about to die? Because that's what I've been reading on the internet. Any help appreciated :)

not sure but your not going to have any kids if you keep using your laptop on your lap
Yeah, it's probably on the verge of death. When was the last time you gave it a good clean out, because the fan can get clogged up with bits of dust and crap so it'll eventually overheat.

My laptop fan started making the loudest buzzing sound a few weeks ago. So I left it 2 days, turned it back on and it was fixed. :)
Maybe that would work for you too.

I've never cleaned the interior, just the exterior like the screen, keyboard etc, and I probably did that in full about a month ago.

I've switched it off now just to be on the safe side so I might try that seeing as I won't be able to take it anywhere till the weekend.
Thanks for your help guys.
If your latop gets to overheated the screen goes off or even worse you get the blue screen of death you need some air spray to clean it out TBH.

If your laptop is out of warrantee. Make sure it is switched off and not plugged in, open it up get a vacuum and give the cooling fan a good clean, be careful not to touch any of the other compnents if it was switched off recently. also clean the vents that way.
Periodically get a decent program to see what's running in the background, how many errors you have in the registry etc and maintain it that way, saves overworking the hard drive. If need be copy what you want saving onto a backup then reformat the whole thing and then reinstal your operating system and other programs you regularly use.
Lastly, the best advice when using laptops is to sit it on either a commercially made mount which has a cooling device in built or at the very least place a board, as large as the laptop on your lap and sit the machine on that.
