I've seen the Blind Side, and I love Sandra Bullock! But an Oscar for that? Give me a break. Anyone couldve played that role, it was a very simple role. Granted the story is great, and the character is a very nice character, but cmon!
I am happy for her, as she doesnt get to play many complicated roles, but its gotta be one of the weakest best actress performance ever.

Why all the hate on Avatar? That movie never pretended to be anything that its not! Its a movie about visual effects and 3D, so it won the awards it should win. WHats the problem with it? MOst people went to watch it, and thought it was amazing. And it broke all box office records, still doing it.

Well what a surprising bunch of winners... :joker:
The only problem I have with this years ceromony is that the Academy set out to reach the general cinema going public again by making some silly changes (10 films, no song performance, 45 second speechs etc) - then they completey went against this by awarding The Hurt Locker - the lowest grossing film ever to win best picture. Don't get me wrong, I liked the film and it was a typical Oscar choice, but why make out as if there are changes being made when there clearly aren't? They missed their chance last year with The Drak Knight, and they've missed the boat this year too. Why would a general cinema going public take any notice of the Oscars after their choices in recent years? It's little wonder why the focus these days is more on fashion than the actual movies.

Glad someone around here did! I thought it was amazing. NOt just a movie, but a great visual spectacle. And I usually enjoy imaginary worlds in movies. MOvies to me arent suppose to reflect real life! THey are all fantasies!

I still can't stop smiling. The Oscars has redeemed itself this year, except maybe for some of the Best Actor nominees. I have a few favourite performances of last year that I can't believe were forgotten about.

That's not my problem with it. I don't give a damn if it doesn't reflect reality because if I want reality, I go down the street and look at reality.
My issue with Avatar is that, it's an obvious story of 2 Smurfs having a sex affair full of stereotypes and the "environmental friendly" thing which seems to be a trend at the moment (I yet have to find how it is an eco-friendly film but whatever). The film is way too long and we know the ending in the first 15 minutes. Apart from that, it's great for visual effects but that's it. Nothing else. It's a boring film.
I don't think anybody in history has been so deserving of an Oscar than Mo'Nique. Her performance in Precious was unbelieveable.
I'm happy for Sandra, but I though Gabourey Sidibe and Carey Mulligan were both better.

I agree with Sandra anyone could play that role, but Sandra just seems like a down to earth lady and her razzie speech had me in stiches. Im happy she won, and Monque was brillent in Precious, such a horrid character to paly, but she play it great for a comedian.

Nah, it'll only be remembered for the technology it helped create. As a film it will be chuckled at for years to come.

Her speech was a bit of an "oh dear" moment though. Bit of a wally to tell you the truth but yeah, she deserved it.
