I was 16 in november and I was apparently meant to get one a few months before my birthday? I still havent got one. My friend whos still 15 got hers today. I don't even know what they are LOL. What is it?? and Could me being half american and only living in the uk for 5 years have anything to do with it?

Oh. Maybe its quite normal to get them late. I was just getting worried cause you apparently can't get a job or go to college without one?

Visit the Job Centre, I think you can find out your NI number there

When applying to 6th form I needed my IN to fill on the application, but I havnt got mine either so I just left it blank. :p

Phone Department of Works and Pension(Jobcentre Plus to you and me) they are responsible for issuing and administration of National Insurance Numbers.

They will allocate you an NI and send out that lovely shiney plastic card with your number on it.

Apparently in an emergency if you run short of cash pop it into any cash machine and type in the last 4 numbers of your NI number it allows for a one off emergency withdrawal of 50 of the queens pounds.
