David Beckham's hopes of playing in the World Cup in South Africa this summer may have been ended by injury. The midfield player was carried off on a stretcher with an apparent injury to his left foot in the closing minutes of AC Milan’s victory over Chievo Verona on Sunday night. He appeared to be upset while being taken from the field.
Italy’s Sky TV reported that Beckham, 34, had probably torn his Achilles’ tendon. Visibly in pain, Beckham went to the sideline for medical attention, leaving Milan with ten men since all three substitutes had been used. Replays showed that Beckham appeared to injure himself without coming into contact with anyone else. Milan won the game 1-0 to close the gap on Inter, the league leaders, to one point.
Hoping to make England’s World Cup squad, Beckham is in his second loan stint with Milan from the Los Angeles Galaxy.
More injury details were not immediately available.
Loads of news outlets reporting it aswell. Things dont look good for him.
