Jersey Shore could be recast after the fifth season, according to a new report.

The MTV reality show is scheduled to begin filming its fifth season next week, but the new issue of Us Weekly claims that producers could replace household names like Snooki and The Situation once it's completed.

A source told the magazine, which is out now, that the reasons for a possible change-up include allowing the current cast to work on other projects and the amount of money currently paid on talent salaries.

TMZ has also quoted a source claiming that plans to introduce a new cast are in the works once season five has wrapped.

Representatives for MTV have yet to comment.

Jersey Shore will kick off filming for season five in Seaside Heights on Monday, with a new report claiming that producers have sequestered the cast to ensure that they maintain the chemistry they developed during their recent Italian trip.

Florence was the destination chosen for the show's fourth season, which was filmed over the past few weeks and is scheduled to premiere on MTV in August.

MTV has also confirmed that Snooki, JWoww and Pauly D have all landed spinoff shows on the network planned for next year. Snooki and JWoww will appear in a programme together, while Pauly D will front his own show based on his DJing career.

The Situation is also working with MTV on other projects, recently signing a development deal for the network. It is thought that he is currently finalising plans for a new show that will be presented as a pilot to MTV later this year.

Jersey Shore begins its fourth season on August 4 at 10pm ET/PT on MTV.

Another eventful episode. Jionni knew what Nicole was like, I don't see why he got so pissed off about what she did in the club. Tonight's fourth-season finale of Jersey Shore (MTV, 10 p.m.) could be the beginning of the end for the once-beloved guidos and guidettes. The public fascination with Snooki, the Situation, Pauly D, JWoww, et al., has waned drastically in recent months. Sure, they've already filmed a fifth season, but does anybody really care about these people any more?


The general consensus that Jersey Shore has jumped the shark is confirmed by a check of recent U.S. ratings.

When Jersey Shore returned two months ago it drew nearly nine million U.S. viewers – the highest rating in the show's history. By last week, that number was down to 6.472 million viewers, which does not bode well for the franchise's future.

The ratings slide is particularly notable since this past season was filmed in Florence, Italy, which should have had more people watching just for the breathtaking scenery.

No, they need new castmembers. Most of them add nothing to the show and Mike peaked in Season 2, he bores me now. I don't see the show lasting that much longer though.

I heard that this series is gonna be the last, it's probably for the best becase it has definitely lost the spark it had the first few series, everything is so repetitive now and most of them are basically extras.

The only thing I think that could improve the show would be to add new cast members, the bad thing about that is how accustomed all of them are to each other, it would feel weird seeing new people on the show. Just think about how they reacted when Danny mentioned it the other episode, they wern't happy. Well, maybe it would be for the best, it could cause some good drama if they cast really entertaining fresh new faces.

I watch the Geordie Shore too, and Jersey Shore looks looks like shakespeare compared to Geordie shore.

I refused to watch Jersey shore for a along time, cause i thought it was just more MTV trash, but once i started watching it, i got hooked, i love those kids now. They are actually good kids.
