I am a fully fledged Jim Thirlwell/Foetus fan who are often compared to NIN, but I never got got exposed to much of their stuff.

The Downwards Spiral would be the one to start with, if your looking for an album reccomendation. It's far and away Trent's best work and remains one of the best industrial records ever made. Hell of a nihlistic concept album to boot.

LOVE Throbbing Gristle. Genesis P-Orridge was an absoloute nutter. Some of the things I have read about them live back in the day are insane.
can we add Korn to the mix too?
Well they aint industrial. And NIN aint heavy metal.

Tool are progressive/art rock and APC are alternative, heavy sounds but not a lot going on electronics wise so I would say no.
Tool deserve dozens of threads though. Love them to death.

I prefer powernoise really. A lot of the recent industrial acts sound all the same. I do love ohGr and Download though.
C/A/T, Terrorfakt and Converter. :)
I agree the genre is in a state of stagnancy now [like most others, it would seem].
If we are talking evil sounding electronic music, dubstep is one genre that is greatly overlooked. In England, it's dismissed as "chav music". I really have no idea why, considering over the past few years it has gained a lot of popularity all over the world, particularly in America.

I ws just reading about how Hardcorps supported Depeche Mode. They seemed to fizzle out after a few appearances. Most noteable one was on The Tube. Enjoy the video.

Supporting bands get a really hard time with Depeche as a rule of thumb. Horror stories exist of Sisters Of Mercy and Primal Scream playing to thousands of indifferent Depeche heads sitting on their hands. Sometimes the support bands would get coined off.
Nitzer Ebb supported them on the last leg of the world tour that just finished though, who were awesome, and Fad Gadget got a great reception in 2001 given his history with the band [Depeche were first discovered by Daniel Miller supporting Fad at the Bridgehouse].

aaaah. I downloaded some of their stuff years ago when I discovered NIN so I must have crossed wires since I haven't listened to either since.
