Unfortunately we're creatures of habit and struggle to adapt quickly after we've developed a routine or attachments, even when they're ultimately having a negative effect on our lives. It's basically out of fear really.

Totally disagree! I think that attitude traps people in unhappy relationships - and prevents them from moving on! More understandable in older people - but youngsters definitely should take the bull by the horns and make the change!
