Depressingly enough the general consensus would say Cockplay.

I think Gorillaz and Kasabian perhaps are the two that spring to mind.

For mainstream appeal, which the rest of the bands had, I'd say the next one would have been the Arctic Monkeys (even though they're nowhere near as good) until they went and cocked it up for themselves when Alex went to do Last of the Shadow Puppets at the height of their success.

I can't really see anyone else about atm (British at least) that have that kind of appeal.

I would say
radiohead which begets
Coldplay which (kinda, hey I'm on a tangent here) begets
Muse ...

Yeah Stereophonics should really have been doing consistent stadium tours by this point but they lost it.

Come on. These stereotypes are useless. Are Oasis for overly agressive, hungover, mad for it men?

I'd agree with Tom (for a change :|) - the Arctics are probably (or were...if Humbug is anything go by) the current 'big British thing'.

I actually thinkg they are losing their way now!

Alexa Chung doing her 'thang' in the States and dragging Alex away!!

It's mesmerising to watch Matt Helders in action - he is an amazing drummer i think

Don't mind Beetlebum. Song 2 drives me nuts though, heard it too many times.

Possible lol I wish I was like 30 or something so I could have been a teen in the 90's.

I'd say Muse is one of the Best British import in years.

All the bands that look promising seem to just die down and become part of the indie scene kinda thing
