I realize now that if I want to chat about music I should go where my tastes would be more appreciated, every one has their own music paths to travel and it's a shame that some will never broaden their tastes but you can't preach to an unconvertible.

Shaun's not a music snob because he seeks out new artists, he's being a music snob because he's getting angry at people for following the mainstream. The mainstream is the mainstream, popular is popular, you can't change these things by getting angry at people. On the contrary, I respect Shaun for having such a wide range in musical taste :).

I can indeed back that up: popular is popular. You're arguing with, for the most part, teenagers on a forum about popular, trashy culture - you're fighting a losing battle.

For you, arguing with people on here, yes it is like climbing Everest. I don't see why this is such a big issue: surely you expected these kinds of responses?

Ahh I get you. Well, I don't see it as a huge task that only some can undertake (you're a wizard, 'Arry :o) but my point is why would people go searching for alternative music if they like what's presented to them? Bearing in mind the vast number of young teens using this forum, that's the kind of response you're going to get.

I'm sure that there are more people out there who listen to a wide range of stuff than those who listen to pop music; however because of the variety of stuff they listen to, in terms of sheer figures, pop music has the greatest number of listeners, if you see what I mean, hence the name pop music. Some of the responses in this thread are infuriating, and it's quite right to challenge them, but the whole debate that's arisen from it is one big pointless loop of opinions that aren't right, but aren't wrong.
