Ive seeen a thread on DS and it got me thinking how many producers have the artists or themselves sing at the start/middle or teh end of a song they produced.
One common right now is Red One.
Lady Gaga- Just Dance
Sean Kingston- Fire Burning
Alexandra Burke- Broken Heels
Sugababes- About A Girl
J.R Rotem has sung J J J J J R in so many songs like:
Rihanna- SOS
Most of Sean Kingston songs
Chamilionaire- Hip Hop Police
Nicole Sherzingeerr(sp?)- Baby Love Remix
Britney- Everybody
Leona- Better In Time
JLS- Everybody In Love
Loads of Jason Derulo's songs as well as Iyas songs too.
And Sean Garret has his line "Yeahh, smash on the radio, bet I penned it" on Britney- Toy Soldier, and Chris Brown- Wall To Wall.
Now do they go too far just to shout out to make people aware who is producing their song?

Red One's also on Pixie Lott's "Here It Goes Again".
I wish they'd bugger off. These and Timbaland...producers aren't meant to be megastars. They earn ****loads as it is.

Yes thats another one, Akon in all of his album.

I thought they had to say it as promo for the producers

Timberland does it too much.. although now hes trying to "sing" himself..
When he first done it, it pissed me so much!!
Like timberland ft one republic..
and one music channel had it just as a timberland song
and all he does is go "eh eh eh" in it.

Its like a tag to be honest.
I Hate JLS' one.
But it works well in Lady Gaga's Just Dance, also when Akon says Convict it sounds brilliant.

Sometimes I quite like it. In Gaga's Just Dance I think it sounds good but on the JLS song Everybody in Love the 'J.R. ROTEM' bit at the start is so annoying.

I love the RedOne tags, and the SG one sounds good in Toy Soldier but eh..
RedOne's also in the Enrique/Ciara duet, + two of Pixie Lott's songs.

i think it's more of a trademark thing, so listeners know who produced it. could also be a tag, like patrick said.

Tbh the Toy Soldier one actually sounds really cool, SG says the same thing repeated at the end of Chris Browns Wall to Wall, doesnt work as well there.
I also agree with others as well, Red One fitted in with Just Dance, and even Sean Kingston's Fire Burning.
J.R Rotem#s (JJJJ R) sounded good in some songs but in JLS' Everybody in Love it sounds awful because its a slower pace.
