...form feelings for the characters that makes you react in certain ways only to realise once again its fake.
Like in Eastenders I usually get upset and find myself thinking 'Oh its a shame he died I wonder if it was painful' and then think 'Oh wait he landed on a trampoline'
And just yesterday I watched the Clash of The Titans and at the end were the girl finally goes to kiss the God, a sword comes out of nowhere and slices her up the back.
I loved this girl, she was the best thing about the film.
But when she got murdered I actually for the first time ever in a packed cinema..
Threw the popcorn up in the air and was like 'OH NO ****!'
And embarressed my friend.
Its weird how involved you can get in these made up stuff and then you feel like an idiot afterwards.
I suppose the acting plays a good part in it.
I also think Soaps do this more than anything else, people spend years getting to know the characters and if somthing happens it does seem like someone close has died.
Just look at the audience OTT Reaction when Danielle died in Eastenders.

There's no point watching fictional stuff if you don't get involved. That's the whole point of it,it's meant to take you in and make you feel all sorts of things. I get completely obsessed with fictional couples all the time and get sad if they break up or really happy or they get married or whatever.

All the time, I watch something as if it was real (though I know it isnt in the back of my head) though it is 10x sadder if you know its real, like Titanic (and no it wasnt the Jack and Rose scene that made me cry, it was the scene including the mother putting her kids to bed as the ship sank)

I cried at both of those scenes and the old couple and the captain. Basically I just cried at the whole second half. Sure I was crying at Gavin and Stacey earlier.

Lol I pretty much cried through the second half too tbh xD I'm bad for crying, hell, the end of Final Fantasy XIII brought a tear to my eye, and it wasnt even that sad! :joker:

lol true! :p to be honest its how they used Leona's 'My Hands' to add effect to the ending in XIII that made me feel sad/happy xD
