Rumours that Katie Price’s husband Alex Reid is joining Coronation Street have angered the cast members, according to reports.
The whisperings that the cage fighter was to arrive on the cobbles now appear to have been untrue, much to the relief of some of the actors on the soap who were said to be “horrified” by the news.
The Sun reported that an internet article, which suggested Reid was going to be joining Corrie, was pinned up on a notice board at the studios.
And regular actors on the programme were said to be taken aback after reading it, arguing that Reid would simply “devalue the soap’s tradition”.
However, it the note is believed to have been a practical joke, with the Corrie stars being assured they wouldn’t be expected to work alongside the perma-tanned muscleman any time soon. An insider was quoted by the paper saying: They all went potty, but everyone saw the funny side in the end."
Meanwhile, Corrie bosses might not be keen to sign Alex up for the show, but according to reports, he will soon be seen in a BBC costume drama (http://entertainment.stv.tv/tv/167944-alex-reid-lands-costume-drama-role/).
The Celebrity Big Brother winner has made no secret of his desire to move into acting, so it certainly seems that whatever happens we’ll be seeing more of him on our TV screens over the next few months.
