If you buy a €30 Ryan Air
and you end up stuck due tp the Volcanic Ash
under Stupid EU rules
that Airline then has to pay out €3,000
to cover Hotels.
They never put a opt out for Act of (the Fake) God rule.
Some Airlines will go under
due to no UK New Labour funding.
New Labour never permitted Airlines any special rules.
This is why being in Europe Stinks.

Well its pretty pish poor management of any airline company that goes to the wall after only a week of being grounded. You know minor things like contingency planning, cash reserves, insurance, etc.

Ryan is the First to break this EU 261 Law.
They say you pay €40 for your flight
thats all they can refund.
they can no way pay for Hotel or anything else.

They havent broke any rule, they are denying they owe compensation on the grounds that the circumstances causing the problem was beyond their control.
The regulation was introduced to ensure that passengers who are stranded because of flight cancellations in certain circumstances are looked after and compensated where appropriate, however they also protect the airlines from being forced out of business in the event of well, volcanic eruptions grounding all glights for example.
As under the Montreal Convention, obligations on operating air carriers should be limited or excluded in cases where an event has been caused by extraordinary circumstances which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Such circumstances may, in particular, occur in cases of political instability, meteorological conditions incompatible with the operation of the flight concerned, security risks, unexpected flight safety shortcomings and strikes that affect the operation of an operating air carrier.

I know what it is,
the quote I gave with the highlights is extracted from it,
you can find the full regulation at the end of
the link I gave(thats the highlighted blue bit)
It allows airline to do no more than refund
the cost paid for the flight if conditions were outside of their control.
