Pop groups are not as popular as they used to be. The peak of pop groups was in the 90's/early 00's

I think he means like... Cheesy pop bands... Alphabeat are cheesy but I wouldn't consider them as being as cheesy as sclub etc... I agree though... They were very popular back then... I think the public have just gotten into a different kind of pop music

Mary mungo and midge? Midge died actually. It was a selfless Ure.

Alphabeat are. Scissor Sisters are.
No they aren't. Not in the vein he is talking about. Under your logic anything popular is pop. He is reffering to pure pop pop. As in the genre of pop. That cheesy, manufactured, noughties bastion of noise.

Anyway, unisex pop groups went the way of the dodo in favour of 'serious' pop acts and Reality TV dream sequences.

Ey Conor. I know what you mean. I hope in the next X Factor they put a unisex group into the live finals! They have never done that before.. well okay with Same Difference and that 2 to go was it? but yeah bring back the unisex cheesy pop groups!

True enough but they make their music, I guess that's the difference.

I can't actually think of a completely manufactured unisex pop group. Same Difference?

I remember saying at the time of that series of the X Factor; JLS could easily make it in pop music, there was definitely a market for them. There weren't any boy bands around before they released singles, and there still aren't any to rival them. Take That and Westlife are man bands, they're not boy bands anymore. As for mixed sex groups; I think there is also a market for them too. Not releasing the cheesy kind of music that S Club and Steps et al did, obviously they'd release music that matched current musical flavours, but I think they'd be successful. I'm reckoning a couple of boybands will spring up soon to rival JLS, but it may be a while before we see any mixed groups! There is an oversaturation of girl bands though, definitely.

Alphabeat & Scissor Sisters?

I miss Liberty X, they could've been so successful IMO.
