I watched the trailer earlier. It seemed quite true to the original. I am quite interested to see the new version because the original was bloody scary at the time, although not by todays standards. Remakes are not generally well percieved by critics who have seen the original. Maybe the reviews are biased. I keep an open mind until I have seen this version. Maybe it will surprise me.

Well the remake of Friday The 13th was amazing. Just as good as the original if not better, obviously due to todays technology and stuff. It still had the same creepy effect and unexpected jumps.

I heard this movie goes behind the story of Freddie, I heard they wanted to make him scarier so they cut the jokes :(

They also said they look more at how he died and if he really was guilty of the things he was ment to of done to the kids.

Sounds good, although im not that fond on the new look of Freddie.

I can't be bothered to do research but why did they burn him? Obviously something to do with children... did he molest them or just kill them?

The difference here though is that the original Nightmare is a classic of it's kind: intelligent and brilliantly made whereas the first Friday the 13th was just a serviceable scream fest. I think this new one is bound to be a clanger.

Well we'll have to watch it for ourselves and see. No doubt we'll probably have to agree to disagree but hey ho, that's life.

Disagree about what? That the original Nightmare is a classic and Friday the 13th is just so-so?

Well yeah because I prefer the original Friday the 13th to A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Not really. I just needed a wee bit of clarification. Yeah, but Nightmare is far superior on every level.

Apperantly in the originals, he killed them.

In this one they are going with the molest plot and that he use to be a school janitor.

They story is about us trying to guess if hes guilty or not, and I think he comes back to kill because some kids or the parents lied about him.

I actually want to watch the original Hellraiser now. Haven't seen it in years but I remember it being very graphic and scary.

I liked the original and I've heard mixed things about this one, it'll probably be a Sky Movies job for me. I'm not expecting much though, the only recent horror remake that was as good as the original was Friday the 13th and that's not exactly a hard feat.

It was always going to be a remake sadly.

I just watched 'Wes Cravens New Nightmare' and it got me thinking of how good Robert Englund was at playing Freddy.

New Nightmare and the original were the only ones worth watching really, they ruined his character in the sequels.

Agree.

Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, wasnt that bad though but it doesnt beat the first.
I think Number 2 was horrible tbh, the worst in the series and so is 'Freddies Dead' I think that was the 8th one.

That was when they just killed it completely.

They tried and focuss to much on him being funny and the scare factor wore off.

Robert Englund IS Freddie.

Disappointed they've remade it. Some classics such as this need HANDS OFF!!!!

The second one was AWFUL, probably one of the worst films I've seen. The third one was fun though, the rest....not so much.

I used to quite like New Nightmare until I saw it the other week on TV. I know it tries to go for the whole satire thing. But the central theme of the lead female questioning her own sanity is just incredibly done to death (part of the reason I didn't like Alejandro Amenabar's the Others either) and is has to feature one of the most annoying child actors of all time.

Regarding the remake... a Nightmare on Elm Street is a childhood favourite of me and my cousin's so we will definitely be seeing it, but I don't think it will turn out to be any good... not with Michael Bay's track record.

Urgh, really not sure about this. The original was such a classic. I fear that they'll A) try to make Freddie a sympathetic character and B) make him so hell bent on revenge that he'll lose all of the quirkiness (not even sure if that's a word) of Robert Englund's Freddie.

And I always prefered the original Friday the 13th to the original Elm Street. But as an entire series, Elm Street was way better.

Very true. And most of the well recieved films are passed off as "thrillers" Psycho, Halloween, Silence of the Lambs etc

The only horror movie in recent years that springs to mind as getting an unfair reception was the original Wrong Turn. Most of the time though, critics are too soft on horror movies if anything.

It's mainly because 90% of horror films are sh*t.

This is what I posted in last film you watched thread: Another stale and unimaginative horror remake from a production company who've built a solid reputation for themselves as a team of professionals committed to churning out hollow, disposable remakes of older classics, with absolutely none of the style of the originals. This was mind blowingly awful, and one has to feel sorry for Jackie Earle Haley who deserved far much more than this tired old piece of rubbish.

This wasn't THAT good. It was good and very jumpy. It was nowhere near as good as the remake of Friday the 13th.

Watched this about a week ago now

Thought it was just very average, and all the deaths were boring, nothing that we haven't seen before. The Acting was a bit ****e at times, although i thought the blonde girl at the start was a good actress shame she got killed off early :(

Ross

Freddy is back and now is been redone! When i saw the 1st trailer for this movie, i did not like it one bit and i was thinking this movie would be really bad, then came out with the second trailer which made the movie look really good.

The new Freddy was not as bad i thought it would be, it was creepy and make up was not to bad, as we loved the old Freddy for some many years, i think it would to really hard replace old Freddy in one movie.

I think the main problem in this movie is the script, there is no atmosphere in this movie at all, there was great ideas in this movie but it failed as there was no atmosphere at all.

The acting in this movie was not that good at all, it was almost as bad the acting from The Final Destination.

The Girl who played Nacey's she was dreadful, she add the same face expressive for whole movie, they should paid for one scene and play that over and over again, i don't think it would make that much different.

The only reason i am giving this movie 3 out 10, it did something better the old one, the ending was really well made, i did enjoy that gory moment and it did make Freddy scary at very end!

The ending save me from giving this movie 1 out of 10
