A snippet from an interview about Resi Afterlife
"Is the film series still being influenced by the video games, or has it gone off in its own direction?
We have always been cognizant of that -- we can't make the movies just for gamers. Of course, we always run the risk of incurring the wrath of the gamers -- who are very vocal. I did Silent Hill and we are planning a Silent Hill 2 -- we were getting hate mail for that one. I think with Resident Evil, after the first installment, fans realized the story was moving forward in a cinematic way. When you play the game, you are using your imagination -- you kind of sense what things will look like. The games have progressed, and are more cinematic now. In fact, the games are taking a bit from us as well. They are using our sets and characters, we are using some of their storylines... things like that. We're probably a little closer to the game now than we were with the first film.
Can you give us anything on Silent Hill 2?
Just that we are hoping to start it in late spring in Toronto."

I find it funny that Resident Evil and Silent Hill are sharing producers and are being made by the same company, seeing as they used to be big rivals

Oh good. The first is one of the few horror movies I enjoyed.

I thought the first one was a confusing mess. Looked good though.

Even with the who "Alessa spills all" scene, which I felt the film would have been better without?

Aesthetically the first film was spot on but they should have stuck closer to the game's story as the whole insane Christian Cult wasn't as interesting as the one in the game, Sh was still one of the better game films though.
If they're doing a version of SH2's storyline then I hope they do it right although seeing as the producers of Resident Evil are behind this one I doubt they will.

I dunno, Resident Evil's done that and that resulted in something that was only Resident Evil in name.

The games are brilliant too, very twisty stories, that mess with your mind :p my avatar and sig are from two of the games :P
True Dezzy, but if they stick to the basics of SH and dont go about remaking all the games, I will be happy

I thought there was way too much silly running around. The plotline was confusing and constantly had to be explained. It got pretty bad reviews and didn't do great at the box office.
Best looking bad film Ive ever seen...to quote one critic.

How was it a confusing plot line? really? I mean, it was dumbed down for cinema audiences with the Order becoming fecking witch burners

Well all the critics seem to have said it was confusing too if you go read the reviews. TBH I couldnt be bothered to figure it out it just got so silly towards the end. And I knew nothing of the game either.

The games are infinitely superior to the film (apart from, Homecoming) the film was dumbed down

They should just base the second movie on the second game; it's truely the best Silent Hill in my opinion.
