I ordered a book on amazon the other day and it came today, however the post man just walked into my house and dropped it off. How bloody rude was that?

Yes, and just left the parcel.

No "Hello anyone in"

or "Just dropping a parcel in"

I had no idea who it was, could of been a killer for all i know.

That is a bit forward isn't it? You should lock your door though cos killers don't knock either:joker:

I wouldn't want strangers just walking into my house either, it's customary to knock and wait for someone to open the door Paddy!

Depends where you live I suppose, when I lived in a park in the city, I used to keep the door locked all the time but I live in the country now and the dogs bark if someone comes near the gate so I always know if someones coming near the house anyway

Lol my postman does that!! if he thinks no one is in.. and I am like usually upstairs he comes in and just drops the letters/parcels off! However if me or my mum or dad are in the kitchen, he will stay and talk for a bit.. sometimes he has a cuppa and that!! lol
The postman and his wife came to my sisters 21st a few years ago!! lol

Haha lol!! usually when I come home from work and no one is in.. I lock the door.. I like that sense of having the house to myself.. "a quiet time" or usually I have a "quiet time" by working to the woods..

Yeah true!! Postman is okay! But sometimes I get fed up of like my mum n dad friends just popping in to see us!! to be honest for some reason it doesn't happen as much now.. but it used to happen like everyday.. and it was allright for them to come here any time they want.. but it is like.. my mum and dad usually need an invite to go to their house!! mmm I think my mum and dad are a bit more sociable.. when I could not handle people just popping in..

Yeah I suppose.. maybe the postman meant no harm by it.. but if you don't know them personally they should post the post through the letter box.. or if there is a parcel they should knock..

Yeah, I prefer to know when people are calling too, I'm a bit anti-social like that haha which is why living where I do suits me, a bit out of the way so people always ring first to make sure we're home!

That's pretty forward of the postman!

One of my pet peeves is people not replying to me if I comment them on Facebook... not so much when it's to a friend that I regularly speak to; chances are they'll respond to what I said the next time I speak to them, but when it's someone you don't talk to very often, I find it pretty rude; really gets on my nerves.

Remember if the postman never done that..

Like a lot of you are saying about being in the shower..

If he cant deliver it in some way, then he has to drop it back off and you will have to travel to go pick it up, i have to drive about 3 miles to go get something if the postman cant deliver..

So id be quite happy.
Maybe he did knock and you didnt notice?

haha, you're right I was just thinking that actually, that I'd rather he opened my door and dropped off the parcel than have to go and collect it

Thats a bit wierd just walking in... Lock your door!! Lol

When Im alone, I always lock the door and sometimes even the windows (only if its cold)... and when someone knocks on the door I NEVER answer it if im alone because i think "It cant be that important" if it is they would shout.

I even look outside my bedroom window, even if its a cousin or uncle or something, I still dont open the door because its effort to go downstairs, unlock the door and tell them no one else is in... obviously they can see theres no car! so obviously my parents arent in... duhh :D Its a bit harsh, but Im a lazy ****!

Ours has done that before, unless it's really windy(or no-one is home or it's night) the door is always on the latch so they just push the door open, put the parcel on the floor and gone away

Your postman told me the truth, you always leave the doors open and if you are going into the shower you leave a note for him to just pop straight up.

(Edit: and the coalman, the window cleaner, the meter reader, the bin men etc.)
