Hey guys, so i'm going to egypt tommorrow, i'm dead nervous for some reason. I'm going for a week and i'm just wondering if anyone else has been and if they can tell me what it's like.

Because there is a volcano thats active in Iceland and occasionally it's ash plume close the UK airspace. Dont know if you heard about it recently but it was mentioned on some news programs and in the papers a little while ago.

Hmmm, I doubt that's going to effect our flight.

Im not too worried about the ash, most flights are going and coming back now, but understand it could be an issue :S i hope not, or at least let me get out there first

Egypt is fab, went there a few years ago in July! It was 50c and most tours had to be done really early in the morning cos it got so hot later. Spent time in Cairo for the pyramids and the museum to see the mask of Tutankahmen, then on to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings and then Aswan to see Abu Simbel. If you get the chance do a cruise down the Nile, you'll never forget it.
Make sure you drink only bottled water and don't buy any bottled water from roadside stalls because they just use old bottles filled up from the tap! Also take loads of biros (yes biros) and give them to the local kids who follow you everywhere instead (instead of money). I even got in Luxor Museum for free by giving the bloke in the box office half a dozen biros for his kids.

Yeah, but muslims bomb London and other places too, it's just the same chance that they might just bomb whilst were there or walking in covent garden looking for some size 8 shoes from Topman.

I wouldn't worry about bombing, anywhere in the world has the same risk, i was in turkey when turkey was bombed. no point in worrying otherwise you'd go nowhere

Since the previous bombings they have Egyptian soldiers everywhere guarding the major tourist resorts and attractions. When we went to Abu Simbel, soldiers boarded the coach with us and there are always soldiers patrolling around the major attractions. I actually felt safer in Egypt than I do walking around my local shopping mall!

Someone I know who has been to Egypt say that the TV misleads people a bit when it comes to the Pyramids in the sense that we're meant to believe it's in the middle of nowhere but theres actually shops etc near by:D.

I was lucky cause where I was staying the core of Egypt was outside my doorstep, so I had everywhere to go to, bars, mcdonalds, shops etc.
And yeah sarah it was funny because he did it in a yorkshire accent :p
It got abit annoying after a while but...i'm home now :D
