Talking About The The Funeral Promo, Luke On The Radio Aswell!

Luke [interviewer]: Can you believe it's been 10 years?

Nick: Sometimes it’s very strange. I was looking at the YouTube clips this morning, and if you said to me that you were actually on BB I wouldn’t believe it. It doesn’t seem real.
----
[talking about the graveyard promo]
Nick: Even the pictures I took, were stolen by a newspaper – they used them. But it was great – the film is a promo to the series. Involves 12 of us, a scene around the graveyard, and putting the BB chair into the ground as a euphymism of the series ending.

It was good fun. There were a couple of people there, like Narinder [from BB2], who stirred things up. Federico [from BB4] upset some girls.

Luke [interviewer]: Certain ex housemates from earlier series don’t talk to later series HMs?

Nick: There are certain housemates who think they are Tom Cruise and behave in a bad way.

There is one guy from BB10 called David and no one from series 1 to 6 knew who he was. They were saying “Who was that guy over there”.
---

Not much gossip unfortunately :(. Hopefully he'll say something more soon.

Luke: Are you sad to see BB end? Or are you glad?

Nick: When you go out shopping and people come up to you, it’s great. But when you go out and no one recognioses you, it's not great. I’m kinda sad, but I'm kinda glad [it's ending] as it puts a red line on that path of television history. Hopefully all of the BB lot can move on and get on with their lives.

It’s sad when some of them are hanging out and doing porn movies for extra money. The bad thing about BB about in this country is that in Europe they look after you after you leave the series. But in this country, they don’t do it.

Luke: Mikey Hughes – he came out after 93 days in house, but BB said “cheerio” and left him in London alone – and he’s blind. [luke sounds very annoyed!]

Nick: There should be some resposinlbity. Because it’s the people who are on the show who made it popular, not the cameraman, Davina or the narrator. I think sometime they could help the people more than they have.

Luke: Would you go back in for BB11?

Nick: I’ll only go back in, if there’s a pot of gold. If they offer just £100 , forget it. I don’t think it’s good to bring people back, they need new people.

If they got three housemates from each series, it would work [like an All Stars series]. Put not if they suddenly introduce them [for a task].

Actually He Said If They Put 3 Housemates Back In Each Past Series, Then That Could Have Worked, But Not Now!
I don't think he meant that... that doesn't make sense.

I'm sure he was talking about a BB Allstars style series, with 3 housemates from each past series. He's talked previously about an All Stars series so I do think he meant that.

Edit... he talked about all stars here http://www.catch247.co.uk/#/nick/4533822785 .

Nick is forever the legend.
He is nearly THE godfather in Reality Television.
Nasty Nick is 'The Original'. Everyone from Richard Hatch to a hundred others tried to emulate him.
BB Producers probably still kick themselves for not quickly putting together a scheme to let him win.

Maybe so many younger/newer viewers don't remember this but BB was something of a very serious social experiment,
and,
the idea of someone scheming was stunning.. almost unbelievable in a way. Psychologists and Sociologist were studying this (seriously),
and,
a nation of people (nationS) sat down to this moment in a genuine social event:

Watch this if you don't know it - it was one of THE 'catalyst moments' for not on Big Brother but for BB and Survivor and Reality shows around the WORLD.

And yes.. by todays standards that is absolutely NOTHING in comparison. Nasty Nick would barely register as any kind of 'wrongdoer' in following seasons.
He would probably get classed as a 'goodie' and deemed 'adorable' for his little scheme by todays standard,
but,
that man was HATED AND DESPISED. He was all but officially 'The Most Hated Man in Britain'.

The funny thing is that he does come across (in all further interviews) as probably one of the nicest and most honest people you could meet heh.

...or is it all a front hmm?

HUGE appreciation for Nick and thanks for posting this too!

He always seems a bit bitter to me. Like he resents the newer breeds constantly overshadowing him year after year. Why bitch about newer HMs not being recognised? Childish point scoring.

Outside the house he's always seems so dull. The TV gigs he got afterwards were a complete flop. Lets face it, outside of the BB context, people like Nick are just useless.

What do you mean 'useless'?
Do you mean 'useless' in media outside of BB?
I suppose but then you could say "let's face it, outside of pop music people like Lady Gaga are useless".

I would remind everyone old enough to just remember back to that BB1 time. Nick was probably the most famous (infamous) person in the UK and was even making international news.

I thought he was being well-meaning and supportive of other former HM's when he went on about how they really deserve to be taken care of. He wasn't being bitter about BB9 Mikey but was standing up for him and pointing out how Mikey is the one deserving attention and care.

But again.. not sure what you mean by 'useless'?

Useless as in have nothing to offer the media anymore other than to talk about their BB experience over and over. In his case it was 10 years ago!

And frankly I doubt many of the younger ones recognised him either. He became famous because it was all new back then. I think it would seem tame now what he did although making up stories about GFs dying is still pretty sick and desperate!

He doesn't care about Mikey or anyone else. That was just another sneaky dig at the BB producers. Like his David remark was a sneaky dig at the latter HMs. Face it, the guy is a selfish sneak...still!

Yes I agree. He's used the whole funeral thing to point score against others. I would have thought at his age he would be beyond such things but I suppose some people never grow up. :nono:

Totally agree with you! Also wasn't BB only meant to last for series 1 and 2?? Thanks to the uproar of series 1 with the "Nasty Nick" scenario.. millions loved BB and wanted to watch more more more!! Nasty Nick IS the Orginal and is THE Legend. Everyone who was in bb3 until now should thank Nick.. because BB could have ended at series 2 and them housemates could have never seen the light of day of another.. BB!

We salute you "Nasty" Nick Bateman!

Whether you like Nick or not. Give credit where it's due. Being of the younger generation, I heard about big brother becoming popular because of Nick. What I don't understand is why Nick was labelled the most hated man in the country; he wasn't a nice housemate but his actions to lead to compelling TV and future series of big brother.
