Today when I finished work I got out of the door and this man was stood across the other side of the road staring at me. I didn't think anything of it and walked down to the car park to get some fish and chips. I was crossing the car park and I needed a wee so I went into the public toilets. I hate urinals so I went in a cubical and when I came out the same man was in the public toilets and I walked out thinking it was a bit strange.. and he walked out after me. I sat on the bench waiting for the bus to come and he was sat on the bench a few yards away from me - Staring at me. I thought it was a bit creepy so I walked off a bit to go to the next bus stop. As I was walking up the alleyway in town I looked back and the man was at the bottom of it peeping his head around the corner. When I looked back he quickly put his head back in. I started to worry a little then and walked quite quickly up into the main street and when I looked back again he was peering around the next corner at me and when I looked back he moved his head back again. I jogged up the main street and up another alleyway and passed another public toilets. I went into them to get some tissue for my nose and when I cam out of the cubicle the man was in the public toilets just standing there staring at the door I was in. I quickly walked out and ran down the street to the next bus stop and as I looked back he was peering around the entrance of the public toilets and moved back when I saw him. I sat on a bench and was just facing the public toilets and every few seconds the man would peep his head around and then move back when he saw I had seen him. I got a text and as I was reading it the man had come towards me and sat on the other side of the road on another bench just looking down at my feet. I got up and wandered down the road a bit - quite worried about this man that was following me and every now and then I would look back and he would be peeping his head around a corner or a bush at me and would move back when I looked at him. In the end I called a taxi as I just wanted to get home quite quickly... but the bus came as I was on the phone so I got on it.

Do you think I was being stalked - Or was I just over-reacting? It was quite scary...

Naa - It was quite late so town was practically dead. It was quite scary.. but It got my brain ticking a bit. I didn't know who the man was, I'd never seen him before - It was like a dream or a scene in one of those horror films.. Hopefully he was just in a funny mood and doesn't get attatched. If it does happen again then I'll definitely get in touch with the police.

I'll probably tell my mum about it when she gets home... I doubt it will happen again - Although he knows where I work now and at what time I finish so if he has decided to attach himself to me - he'll know when the best time is to stalk me again.. and I'll know that he has decided to attach himself to me as he'll do it again. If he does it again I'll definitely get the police involved though. I've heard about stalk stories before that have gone really bad :S

Lewis.

He was about 40 I'd say - Mid 40's at a push. He looked simple.

How scary, he may have just been a little crazy, however you were brave to go into public toilets again after he was in the first one, i would have just kept going til i reached people or a bus.

Yeah, they can do things like that sometimes- doesn't mean it's right or you have to accept it though. Best thing to do is use the gents at work before you leave the place, and if you seem him again make sure to let everyone know about it.

Stay public if you think you're being followed. Shops, busy streets - not toilets!

Hope you're ok. Scary stuff :(

Can't believe you went in public toiliets again when you suspected some creep was following you! I hope you never do that again! He had his opportunity to 'attack' you then - if that was his intention - so I doubt you will see him again!

Enid

Um. So you'll let it lie and give him an opportunity to attack someone else. How nice of you. At least you got home safe that day. I suppose that is all that matters. Should have reported him there and then. These creeps should not be let outside.

Tell me where and ill go kick his head in...

Honestly though that must have been very creepy, you dont want this happening again, he could be up to anything dont give him a chance, couldnt you get a lift home from work or something.

Police won't do much! I was in a similar situation years ago and I had two children in a pushchair with me! The guy was clearly following me - so I led him to the police station! When I went in - I saw him run for it! I reported it to the police who went to look outside, couldn't see him - and I was told nothing they could do and just left to it basically!

You just need to be careful - keep your wits about you and don't go into lonely places!

True - but not sure there is much they can do unless they get some CCTV footage of him being stalked!

Thats what I was thinking!

If that was a guy attracted to you then looking back at him constantly and then entering a public toilet could be seen as some kind of invitation. Welcome to the real world!

If some man is following you STAY AWAY FROM PUBLIC TOILETS. Stay in very public areas with people and try and lose him as quickly as possible.

Anti Stalking laws are more to do with repetitive stalkers as opposed to one offs like this.

Breech of the Peace is all the person who may/may not have been interested in Lewis, could have been been charged with in that he put you in a state of fear and alarm. Even then if he is the local bus/rail station nutter the police would probably have just sent him on his way.

As has been stated by a few FM going into the toilets with him in tow was a bit of a mistake, he might have thought you were up for a bit of cottaging, after making eye contact with him earlier.

you spend too much time in public loos and on benches. this is the haunt of the gay-0-sexual and he probably thought you and him were engaging in some mating ritual.

Lol. I think our Lewis is either very very innocent...or very very not innocent.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and go with the former.
