You know I just seen my mum making some chicken there now and there was a bit of blood beside its leg :(

I would love to be a vegeterian but its just too hard.

But in McDonalds, I dont get Chicken Burgers or Chicken Nuggets all I ever get is a Double Cheese Burger.

I'd like to be a vegetarian too, but I can't because I don't like vegetables. I'd just have to starve.

It's not just vegetables you eat as vegetarian, there's also a huge range of Quorn products which IMO are actually nicer than real meat. You can't tell their stuff is vegetarian, but you can eat it without having a feeling of guilt.

You have the choice of the type of meat you want to eat and to some extent the manner of its life and death. Even the way its cooked and served. What more could you want, if you dont like the way a company operates then dont use them.

But just think what would happen if everyone turned vegetarian overnight. All those poor animals left to die, to suffer without proper animal husbandry, farmers would just quit their farms and leave the animals alone in neglect. Think of the suffering of animals brought on by vegetarianism in that scenario.

Me I will follow my heart and ensure that farmers dont do this by providing a demand for meat. Just take off the horns and hooves, whap a burger bun either side and wipe its arse.

Very true and as I said the consumer has the power to dictate to the corporations who run companies such as McDonalds by voting with their wallets and not using the services provided by them.

The Power is by News Papers
not enough of the 'consumers' even bother to read it, though.

McD will not give them Ads,

What is the point of this thread? Is it the way the animals are treated or the sheer amount killed? Well it is what we humans eat. A lot of people in this world eat meat. Nothing can be done about that.

I'm not sure that is entirely true. The animals would be just left to free reign with each other instead of getting killed anyway, and the farmer can do other farming.

Or get a job in the massive, burgeoning vegetarian food sector.

My silliest anecdote is McDonalds

We'd have to drive across Scotland to watch Claymores @ Hampden, but always took the kids too as good fun whole day out. Mc Donalds on Eastern outskirts of Glasgow had been caught with a rat's head. Unfortunately my mate's 8 year old had picked-up on this from watching Sky News with his dad. Everytime we passed with him it the car, he'd ask to go in for a "Rat's Head Double with Cheese Happy Meal" :joker:

Fun kid!

Nah thats not strictly true.

The chickens mass reared in sheds to meet the needs of the poultry industry could not just be put out to range and look after themselves, a lot cant even walk.

Sheep need to be moved about for pasture, as do cows. you cant just leave them. Plus the antibiotics normally pumped into them to keep them healthy are quite expensive. They would also need the same amount of care etc as they do currently. Inspections dipping, calving, lambing etc. unless of course you ensured males and females were kept separate. All males free range in Scotland, all female animals in Wales?

Even if they did leave the animals to graze, where would you put them the amount of land necessary that would need to be taken up to produce sufficient crops to replace the dietary requirements that meat provides us,is actually significantly more than what is currently in use by both crops and animal farming.
