Eoghan Quigg's father has claimed that his son will return to music "bigger and better".

Chris Quigg said that Eoghan had been given "a quick kill" by RCA, who released his self-titled debut album in 2009. The reality TV star was dropped after the disc peaked at number 14 in the UK and dropped out of the top 100 after only three weeks.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, Chris said that the label should have given the 17-year-old the time to develop as an artist like fellow X Factor acts Diana Vickers and JLS.

"The album of cover songs was recorded in eight to 10 days. How can you do an album properly in that length of time?" he said. "He never disagreed with them or questioned them, he just did what he was told. He didn't write the songs, he just sang them.

"Had he been given someone to co-write the songs and more time to work on an album, it might have been different. The other acts were all given nine months to a year. They should have done the same for Eoghan, instead it was a quick kill."

The Dungiven father admitted that the experience had been a "learning curve" for the family, but said that Eoghan had no regrets about taking part in the ITV1 programme.

"It was a brilliant platform for him and the disappointment came after the show. There are some fantastic people in the music industry and some who are not so fantastic," he said.

"We didn't even know he'd been dropped by the record company until we read in in the newspapers. That was pretty hard. He never expected to be treated like that."

He added: "He is concentrating on his exams for now but he will be back with some new material. He's taken everything on the chin so far and when he does bounce back, he’ll be bigger and better."

Please NO :shocked::laugh2:.

He's absolutely right, he was treated like sh!te, and so it's only fair he gets another chance.

I think it was unfair how they made him release a album of covers tbh. i'd like to hear more from him, he had a nice voice imo.

And? That's a matter of opinion and as far as I'm concerned, once they gave him a record deal, it's only fair that they gave him a chance.

If they weren't going to do that, why did they bother giving him a record deal in the first place?

Okay I agree with you! It was stupid of the record label rushing to get his single out.. only after a few months on X Factor. They should have given him plenty of time.. like a year or something to work on the albulm! However I am afraid he has flopped it for good now.

So do I, sadly.

It was a stupid mistake on their part too because theoretically, had he been given longer, he would have had a better chance at success.

The lad should be happy he got to the final 3 in the X Factor. He isn't that great of a singer tbh. Average at best. He should just be happy he has made some money off the back of the X Factor. To last as long as he did with an OK voice, it took a big effort from N.I to get him that far.

Another dreary little no talent with zero charisma. Thankgod he's dead in the water with no chance of being rescued. As JLS say, you only get one shot....

What would he have done though? I can only picture an Irish Justin Bieber at best... or a pubescent Daniel O'Donnell.
