View Full Version : Why are all gameshows so backstabbing-focussed now?

I mean gameshows always used to be quite friendly, quite simple and polite - The Price is Right, Generation Game, Catchphrase, etc.
But now every single daytime TV show seems to have an element of conniving and being-an-unreliable-and-nasty-twat-about-it element that's not really pleasant to watch.
Look at Goldenballs. What the hell? The Weakest Link, where everyone's demoralised and insulted by a **** one chromosome away from the reptile kingdom. And there's "Divided" on ITV1 at the moment, hosted by a tit in the form of Andrew Castle, where there's pauses to ask each player "who do you think is the most annoying?" - oh well that's conducive to a good team morale.
And all of these shows are so determined to present each contestant as a life story now. Take Deal or No Deal, everyone has a bloody sob story and whilst I'm sure that's all very emotional for the placatable and balls-less populace, I don't particularly care. If I wanted to watch an irritating twerp have a shot at an unreasonable amount of money for someone of their calibre, I'd stick to Big Brother thanks.

The Real World isn't to bitchy really, if they have a problem with each other they tend to fight it out

Divided is the worst I've seen by far. Bet the producers love it though as they always go home with sod all

On Divided? I know
As much as I love this show, jesus christ it gets on my tits so much. (Divided)
They nearly always end up arguing over A and there's always some idiot that's like "I'm here to play the game I'm taking A sort yourselves out," when in reality, A usually goes down to what C was at the start of the game.
ARRGHH it aggrevates me so much hahaha.
LOL they lost most of it :laugh2:
Even I was getting angry.
LOL this is me every day I watch it.

Most take away nothing. I'd say out of a week you're lucky to get two shows where they take something home
I'd just go on and go for C straight away if it was a decent amount overall, ie. 40k +, maybe that's just the sort of person I am, but the moment someone goes for C, the others agree quickly on who takes B, it just makes so much more sense for someone to go for C straight away, especially if like today, the start of pot C ends up being the amount of pot A at the end of the game.
This show really isn't good for my health ahhaah.

I keep saying I'd go for C so long as they took no time in deciding on the other two. Can't be fairer than going for the lowest amount really. In my 15 seconds I'd say "I'll take C but decide NOW or you get nowt"
^ Haha, that's exactly what I was saying to my mum the other day when we saw the three go home with absolute jack all.
Mine was more:
"I'll take C, but if you can't decide in 10 seconds who takes B and ruin the amount for me, I'll go pot A and ruin it for you"
