So sorry to hear the tragic news about your friend Scooby - you will feel numb right now but give yourself a little time to let it kind of feel real to you then you will be able to start coping with the future.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend scooby.
The sad thing about life is that as the years go by, we all lose people we care about, and life really isn't fair.
Despite your numbness now, you will, in a while, start to remember him and smile about some of the good times you had together. I'm sure that'd what he would want.
Perhaps the cruellest thing of all is that life DOES go on. We learn that none of us are immortal, and that no matter how much we hurt, the world keeps turning.
The other more important thing he would want you to do is make the most of being alive. Savour every day, appreciate the beauty around you, the autumn leaves as they fall from the trees, the sunshine in the mornings, the taste and smell of fresh bread.
It's a cruel world, but it's a wonderful world too.
I'll be thinking about you, and, as everyone else has said, we are here. xxxx

That was very well put. It's hard to know what's the right thing to say when someone experiences a tragic loss. I think R.O.B pretty much summed it up though. Our thoughts are with you Sue. I guess that's all we can do from here. x

This has been reported on the BBC Website here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/wear/4279954.stm)
Learning of someones death is always a shock especially if it is sudden and unexpected. This year I lost two people I knew.
One was a guy who used to go to the same newsagent and lady that used to be my next door neighbour. Last week, also a family pet died after a number of years.
Lastweek a co-workers father died, and to complicate matters, he died whilst abroad.
Our thoughts go with you.
Any word on any memorial service?
How are you feeling today Scoobs?
I remember when my friend died - he was knocked off his bike (not a motorbike), and I just felt so unbelievably sad and shocked. He was only 34. Then less than three weeks later, my boyfriend's dad died. A terrible time.
Although it still hurts, I can at least look back at the good times and smile, as ROB said. But remember, if you need a good cry, just let it all out - I still do, and it does help.
Hope you're okay.

I am goiing to sound harsh here
But when these things happen, like ROB said, you have to carry on.
Much as it seems like it, time does not stand still, life goes on.
I try and maintain an air of detachment and throw myself into the day to day grind of living. That is how I try and cope with these things.
The only problem is, it makes you appear heartless and indifferent.
I just remember the slogan of the Royal British Legion, whose appeal I support every year, "Remember the dead, but don't forget the living"
