I don't really watch it but it turns out all of the characters were dead coppers in "purgatory" (a stop-gap between Heaven and Hell) where they continued being police officers because they weren't aware they were dead.
The Keats guy was the Devil, trying to lure them into Hell - he successfully got Viv a week or two ago.

So is there going to be another show like this? And will it be named after another David Bowie song? :D

Nah that's your lot now, they'd just be going over old ground if they did really.
I did like how they moved onto the 90's at the end though.

Did anyone else find Gene and Alex's relationship incredibly forced and the situations contrived?
What's worse, the show completely disappeared up its own backside in the final episode with some of the worst overacting I have ever seen.

I thought the final episode was fantastic although it was a bit predictable in places. As for Gene and Alex, I thought it was done well if they placed more focus on it it would have seemed forced but they did it just right. As for overacting I don't agree really apart from Keats but that was called for and well done, I was expecting him to become demonic in appearance every few minutes.
If I'm nitpicky then i'd say it was a victim of overhype but I thought it was brilliant.
I only watched Life on Mars. I didn't like it at all, but that was only because I had just finished watching all of The Sopranos and well... nothing can beat that.
