Paul Gray (aka #2 or "The Pig"), bassist for the Iowa hard rock band Slipknot, has passed away at the age of 38. The Des Moines Register reports that Gray was found dead at a hotel in Urbandale, IA at approximately 10:50 a.m. today by an employee at the TownePlace Suites.
Police told the Register there was no evidence of any foul play and the investigation is ongoing, with an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday.
Gray was one of the founding members of Slipknot and one of the three original members of the band still in the current lineup.
Slipknot's most recent release was 2008's All Hope Is Gone.
I'm sure TiBB's Slipknot fans will be devastated. :\
RIP.

Made a living selling teenagers their own desperation, hatred, angst, fears. Kids paid for death, injury, sickening twisted things.
Dies at 38.
Yes that is a huge tragedy.

As individuals, they were each highly talented musicians. As a collective, they played complex arrangements at extremely fast speeds, and put on some of the best live shows in rock. The lyrics were also maturing with every album. Not that you would know a single thing about them.
They had plenty of adult fans. Inevitably teenagers were also attracted to the nihlism and pantomine of it all, as they are with other acts with huge adult fanbases. Most would say you are full of **** [quelle surprise] and that they were simply giving the teens one of the few good things to feel good about during those years.
You ususally become a down and out teen first, then find the music that reflects that and take solace in it. Music that won't mock you about what you wear, but will make you feel better about it. It's not as if buying a Slipknot album was an automatic ticket to everlasting misantrophy.
He and the band have millions have fans and peers who will mourn his loss. It's a bad day for metal music and fans of the band. And your unwelcome appearance here really just goes to solidify your seemingly limitless capacity for being an incoherent dolt.
