So is this the news, or because it says 'Breaking news coming', does that mean we're going to find out exactly what?

janaddy86
26-05-2010, 01:40 PM
Probably this.

"However, in a twist to the usual format there will be more hopefuls than the house can hold. In front of the cameras and the baying crowd each of the hopefuls will find out their fate. Will Big Brother select them to spend a summer in front of the cameras or will they have to head home with their bag still packed?"

They should be very carefully selecting the final HMs ever.

We don't want any old tat.

This.... no models.... no one from celeb agencies.. no one who "knows" celebrities..... okay I don't mind if a "model" goes in.. because maybe a model who has a degree or something? To be honest Orlaith from bb6.. she has a degree in Business Studies. She was allright but moaned a lot!!!!

To be honest I can imagine a mum going in.. who has septuplets or something! lol

100 people compete on launch date, stupid idea! let's pray it is not true. lol
what if 13 very similar people get into the house, that will definitely just ruin the show.

She was a 'mare. Miserable cow didn't even appreciate being in there and was obviously just sticking it out long enough to make herself noticed so she'd get in mags. I hate women like that.

And she fought with the mighty Science. Slag wag wannabe.

Not liking this launch night twist tbh, would have just prefered them to pick the right housemates instead we will get the usual boring people who get to go in, Suzie (BB7) with the golden ticket as an example.

Jack_
26-05-2010, 02:15 PM
Yeah, as has already been said, this idea could completely backfire.

They, and we, better ****ing hope that they've picked 100 [or whatever number] great candidates.

Ohhh I hope this goes well.

So, what, there's going to be some sort of contest and the viewers decide who goes in the house? Hmm...

Jack_
26-05-2010, 02:17 PM
Another flaw in this is that we won't get the usual "Here's housemate number one!", -roll VT-, -housemate enters-, etc.

It'll all be different, and for the last series. Doesn't sound great...

Zippy
26-05-2010, 02:24 PM
Is this confirmed or what? Sounds like a mess waiting to happen and I don't see how they would control that many people. Keeping them quiet up til the night? Huh!

Plus they'd be taking a HUGE GAMBLE with who they ended up with. Don't think they'd risk that for the final series. Plus how could they do checks on all those people? They have to look into their backgrounds and do psychological checks n sh!t.

All sounds off to me.

I think it sounds exciting!

I dont think they will have to compete but probably just get told they are entering so we can see the shock on their faces!

Stop with the negativity this could be awesome

You_Tell_Me
26-05-2010, 02:27 PM
Couldnt it be that they already have the decided housemates, and they will be 'selected' by Big Brother on the live launch. No tasks, just a new way of sending them in. That is what I got from the press release.

Hm, wouldn't mind that so much I guess. But we'd still be missing out on the cars/VT's...would be a shame to break the tradition.

Don't knock it until you've tried it!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks.

But it has been tried before. It's just a larger scale mix of BB10 Non-HM launch and the golden ticket escapade from BB7.
They were both bad - what makes them think doing it again with more people would make it work?

Short sighted. It might make the actual launch night exciting but this is a marathon not a sprint.

You need to ensure you have a cast that will work well together and not have too many similar types. This method is a gamble. We could have 5 butch chauvinists and 6 braindead bimbos. Yawn.

Kate Conway's latest tweet:

RT @TheSunTVBiz: Launch date set for Big Brother: THE reality show returns on June 9 but only half wannabes will land a place in house h ...

And the Guardian's take on it:

So I think Daniel Lewis is right...

I guess Amy Green wont be going in now :(

You just know all the fit girls will be too worried about their nails and wont fight as hard for it.
We will end up with fit women, when I say Fit Women I mean women like Angel McKenzie who are actually FIT, not Stephanie McMichael or Sophie Reade Fit.

Well the quantity of housemate hopefuls hasn't been confirmed but they have said that there are more of hopefuls than housemates and they find out their fate in front of the crowd.

It doesn't say if they will have to perform tasks or fight it out to go in. It just says they will be selected.

The producers may have pre-selected and are just going to do the selection live so we see the dejected faces of the others :)

26-05-2010, 02:41 PM
The only way I could see this working is if they run the launch normally, but instead of the HMs entering to their VT they go into a holding area. The public then vote for who to go in and we see the winners entering on a second show 30 mins later.

Zippy
26-05-2010, 02:44 PM
You can forget 100 potentials.

Maybe 25-30 at most. What would they do with 85 distraught rejects? Davina would be mob lynched!

Jack_
26-05-2010, 02:45 PM
All articles [that I can see] and Kate Conway are saying half of them will be sent home.

So assuming that 16 go in, there will be 32 candidates. 14 go in, 28 candidates, etc.

daniel-lewis-1985
26-05-2010, 03:17 PM
zippy if you had read my post correctly it says that i think the housemates have already been chosen therefor its not a competition/gamble

If this is the case then we will have a mix of housemates as usual.

Oh and i thought the golden ticket twist was legendary!

Jamie.....
26-05-2010, 03:20 PM
It shouldn't be too bad as they should of chosen a range of housemates so they shouldn't be too similar, but i dunno if there will be an order to them going in eg housemate no.1 housemate no.2.. because if there isn't then the housemate sweepstake game won't work

Zippy
26-05-2010, 03:29 PM
zippy if you had read my post correctly it says that i think the housemates have already been chosen therefor its not a competition/gamble

Well its says they will COMPETE. Which would mean they all have a chance of getting in. To just make an extra 15 or so people turn up just to tell them theyre not going in just seems mean to me. All those disappointed faces will cast a cloud over the first night.

And...we don't need to see them excited about being chosen because theyre always excited enough on the first night anyway. We don't need extra gimmicks.

I'd rather they had to compete as long as theyve ensured that they have a good mixture whatever the outcome. They could, for example, pit like against like in an elimination game. Two bimbos compete so only one gets through etc

daniel-lewis-1985
26-05-2010, 03:32 PM
It says they will compete! I didnt say it...

I do agree that it may cast a cloud over the night though! It should be a big lively happy launch!

But i am looking forward to seeing the new housemates faces when they find out they are chosen.

26-05-2010, 03:37 PM
I think it could be 20 potential housemates, and 14 will become housemates and will enter the house, either these 14 will be prechosen by big brother or will win in a task or something, out of the remaining 6, the public will get to vote two of them in friday night when the evictions normally take place.

daniel-lewis-1985
26-05-2010, 03:39 PM
I would like it if we could vote our favourite housemates in

janaddy86
26-05-2010, 03:39 PM
Well Daiy Star say 100 hopefuls and Ch4 press worker says half will get in so that means we get 50 housemates. Is the house big enough? I think they will have to fight for the beds once they get in.

I don't mind this idea at all, it'll make for a very different launch night indeed :)
And I'm sure that we won't end up with anyone that the producers wouldn't have put in... otherwise they wouldn't have put them in the final 100
It's quite interesting how they won't have control over the exact contestents though... or so we think :)
Could be a fix so that we get the best housemates :joker:

Lol. Most years they can't even pick 15 decent HMs so fat chance of them picking 100!

No way will they be dealing with that many on first night. Too much to cope with on a LIVE show. It has to be managable amount.

I think about 20-25 with 15 selected through voting or elimination games.

The only way to do it is 1 Hm is selected, goes in, vt is show next housemate is selected, goes in, vt is shown and so on....... it'll be awful tbh, hope they have a good plan on how they are going to do it and i cant see fans been happy if vts arent shown :/
