FANS of hit show The Scheme are trying to get its drug addict star Marvin Baird on the final series of Big Brother.

Hundreds have already signed a petition to bring the Scot into the show as a housemate.

The BBC Scotland fly-onthe-wall documentary set in Kilmarnock's Onthank estate has become a ratings sensation.

Though it is only broadcast in Scotland, 520,000 watched Tuesday night's second episode.

The bumper viewing figures elevate the low budget show into the premier league of Scottish success stories, alongside live football and big money documentaries such as The History Of Scotland.

And the success has largely been put down to the charm of Bullet the bull terrier and his relationship with owner Marvin, 30, who battles prison terms and a rocky relationship with Dayna McLaughlin, 19.

The final series of Big Brother will hit our screens on June 9. In a twist to the usual format, there will be more hopefuls than the house can hold. Fans of Marvin hope he can be drafted in later in the series.

Despite The Scheme's success, the Beeb have been forced to pull the remaining two shows in the series after a teenage "star", to be introduced in episode three, was charged with a serious assault and court proceedings became active.

The remaining episodes could be postponed for a year, depending on the case's progress.

Last night a BBC Scotland spokeswoman said: "The Scheme has generated an incredible amount of interest. It is astonishing that we are seeing such high viewing figures after just two episodes. "We are very pleased at the show's success."
