View Full Version : It's the right time to end it

As big a part as it has played in my summer for the last decade and as much as I'll miss it, tonight's doc reaffirmed for me that this is the right time for it to bow out, while it's still got a smaller but strong following and while it's legacy is still remembered. I'd have hated for it to be milked and milked and milked without any attempts to revamp it and for it to end up on some obscure digital channel during it's final days recieving no more than a footnote when it finally waved goodbye and with it's already vastly different to the one it started with fanbase having completely deserted it.

With exceptions, it's been a great 11 years and at least it's going out while we can still remember the good times.

I agree.

Yeah, I think as much as I hate to admit it, it's the right thing to do.

I sincerely hope though that in the next generation it is revived and revamped and it can breathe a whole new life. In theory, the format allows that.

Yes. As long as the final one is A>M>A>Z>I>N>G

But that could leave us wanting more so...

It seems to be the younger kids who don't wanna let go because they haven't seen the whole 10 series.

If it ends on the same sort of not as CBB did, I'll be happy.

But that could leave us wanting more so...

Oh I still want more, I just really don't believe it has it in it anymore.

It seems to be the younger kids who don't wanna let go because they haven't seen the whole 10 series.

You'd think it would be the other way round.

I'll miss the community aspect the most in terms of the final few years as even if the show does return in some form, just as it has year-to-year while on air, it will have massively changed.

There might be the odd familiar face, but the majority will have moved on, comparing it's participants now to BB3/BB5 or even BB6/7/8, a lot already have.

Whether this is the last summer the producers will share together is uncertain (though likely), but whether this is the last summer the fandom in it's current form will share together is, it is.

Ocassionaly watch but don't care for either of the first two (especially the latter which rips most it's ideas from BB) though enjoyed (the origional) Castaway.

(IAC used a sound effect from BB9's eye flashes last year)

I blame the PC brigade as much as anything tbh. The amount of complaints sent to Ofcom over Big Brother has played a huge role in it getting axed. Regardless of how long its been going for, it is still one of the most watched shows on channel 4, if not the best show they have.

I give it a good 3-4 years and it will be back.

IACGMOOH still has huge legs to run on.

I think its a BRILLIANT show.

So many celebs looking to rebuild, the whole theory on two teams going against each other for food for the first 3-4 days, filmed in rough conditions and it is only 3+ weeks and Ant and Dec present it which is brilliant.

Its a great show for many of those reasons imo. I think it will still be around for a long time because it still gets fantastic ratings TV ratings wise.

Its true what was said on BB:10yrs in the headlines that BB spawned TV that we watch today. If it wasnt for Big Brother there wouldn't be anything like I'm a Celeb or Castaway or Shipwrecked.
TV today owes a lot to Big Brother. It truly is the King of Reality TV.

When I watched I'm a Celeb last year I could remember hearing the music and having to rewind it back to make sure I heard right.

Piss off ITV and get your own creepy music for your ****ty BB cast offs!

You've just described most of what I dislike about it.

Wonder how ITV will manage next year with nothing to steal ideas from now, as the last popular naughties starting UK reality show still standing.

The ratings tell you everything sid at the end of the day. Im a celeb beats BB now, i know BB is over 10-13 weeks and Im a celeb 3 weeks but in general (this is just my opinion), the quality of those 3 weeks depending which celebs they can get, can give you as much enjoyment as bb can over 13.

Actually thinking about it, if Jade, Joe and Danielle weren't so ****ing ignorant, i think BB would of been axed. They destroyed the shows rep. I blame them as much as anyone.

i disagree completely (sorry)
here in the us/canada theres a show survivor(dont know if you heard of it)
it started with massive viewers and slowly started to go down and down
But the last series ( SERIES 20!!! ) had up to over 14 million viewers for one episode and has tons of seasons left so i reckon the same could be done with bb
