View Full Version : The Match
The football reality tv show is back soon. For those of you who did not see the first one it was a team of celebs managed by former Watford and England manager Graham Taylor against a team of ex-footballers managed by Sir Bobby Robson. The ex-pro's won 2-1 but the celebs played well.
42 celebs are supposed to be interested in taking part this year with 5 already signed up in the form of Johnathan Wilkes, Ben Sheppard, MC Harvey, Darren Campbell and Alex Stewart who all played last year. Anthony winner of BB6 is meant to be in the running to make the squad along with Phil Tuffnel, Nigel Benn, Steve Brookstein, Shane Lynch and Dane Bowers.

ANTHONY Hutton, winner of Channel Four's Big Brother TV show, joined other celebrities for a football match at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre last Sunday.
The match was part of trials for Sky One programme The Match, which pits a team of celebrities against a team of ex-professionals.
Other faces playing for a chance to get into the celebrity 11 included ex-boxer Nigel Benn and ex-cricketer Phil Tufnell.

I remember the last series; it was great. I wanted the celebs to win, but I think it's fair to say that they gave the pros a good run for their money.
Not sure I would class some of those participating as celebrities though! Steve Brookstein? Seriously, a celeb?:bored: and the lead singer of Curiosity Killed The Cat? It does make me wonder how many people they asked before they got to those two!
But I'm looking forward to seeing Tuffers - he's always entertaining. In fact, he would make a great Celeb BB contestant!
The trials show starts on sunday. I think they will get it down to 19/20 players.
Oh I'll definitely be watching that.

I was actually at the match last year - it was fantastic to be honest and even better knowing Robbie was not a million miles away. I know he wanted to sit with me but security issues and all that!!
I saw Jonathon Wilkes in the Rockey Horror picture show and have to say he looks better in football shorts than drag!
Anyone see the trials tonight, was a good show and I can't wait for next week now.

I bet Granny Hutton is placing a few phone votes for him
Anthony is a good player and I will proably vote to save him. I think Jim will go.
I think Jim will go. I was surprised Graham put them on the bench, because there are worse players. I understand why he did it - and to be honest I thought it was very disrespectful of them to turn up late, but I would have thought that he would have been eager to get rid of some the players who weren't as good. I honestly thought Brookstein would have been on the bench.

Sam Robertson got the 'boot' tonight. Steve Brookstein, Patrick McGuinness, Iwan Thomas have now been lined up for the chop.
I was really surprised that Sam went. I really thought Jim would go. To be fair to Sam, he took it really well, and I noticed that he was the only one actually apologised to Graham for being late.
I really hope that Brookstein goes tonight.
Sam was a good player sad to see him go but glad Anthony stayed.
Iwan Thomas to go on footballing ability.

I like Iwan Thomas, so I hope he stays. Although if he is the worst one out of the three for ability, I suppose he should go, but I want Brookstein to go, because his face really annoys me:mad:. Also the fact that he seems to think he is a world famous singer with an amazing voice. Who's he kidding?!
Sorry, went off on a bit of a rant there. Looking forward to the show tonight!

The game against Newcastle lasted 30 minutes and finished 6-0 to Newcastle.
The Newcastle team was a mixture of first-teamers and squad players. Ameobi and Bowyer played, if I remember rightly.
I really hope Jim goes tonight. I've already voted for Tuffers to stay in! The Newcastle game was a bit of a whitewash wasn't it really?!
I can see Tuffers being a liabilty, he's a great bloke but not a good keeper.

Jim went last night and Iwan, Dane and Will are up for the chop. Its at 10pm tonight
I want Will Mellor to go tonight, but unfortunately I reckon Iwan will go.
Incidentally, I'm still waiting for Harvey to have any conversation that doesn't include the words "when we played the legends last year...", or that isn't having an argument with someone. He's a good player, but he's very annoying.
Glad Jim went last night.

I didnt want Jim to go last nite cos he is better than Phil n considering it is a serious football match i think Jim deserved to stay over Phil even thou Phil is the clown like. HAHA, did yas see Anthony Hutton fall asleep in the talk, how rude eh :P
Hope Will or Iwan goes tonight, I hope Dane stays cos he missed out last year so DANE TO STAY lol.
I know Phil isn't as good as Jim, but I don't really know a lot about football, so I just go by who I like. It's probably wrong, but I'm sure that they know that a lot of people will do that.

I think I can guess 9/11 of Graham's team. Lawler, Craig, Little, Scott-Lee, Wilkes, Shephard, Hutton, Cambpell and Harvey with Danny Young and David Jones the other two.
