Casilias

Ramos Puyol Pique Albiol - With capdevila and machena main subs

Iniesta Fabregas Xavi Silva - With busquets and alonso being main subs

Torres - Villa - Not sure who will be back up.

Thats without looking and i bet it will be like that in a few games.

well that was a boring first half.

Raph
30-05-2010, 01:04 PM
Japan have a very powerful defence cause all their players run back, the moment Japan is in danger. that gives you 4 English Players against about 10 Japanese. No wonder they're finding it difficult to score. Really well played for Japan. I have a little faith in them for the World Cup now. Nippon all the way!

Raph

2nd half. We can do this Japan!

Novo
30-05-2010, 01:09 PM
Walcott - has no idea how to time his runs and really needs to run with the ball at his feet rather then hit it 10 feet in front of him...

Glen Johnson - Clumsy twat.. probably better at attacking then he is at defending.. gave away the needless corner for the goal and then didn't track that jap when he scored

Rooney - Misplacing easy passes all the time

Lennon - Learn to control the ****ing ball!

.................................................. .......................

Gerrard - ON - Huddlestone off
Joe Cole - ON - Lennon off
Defoe - ON - Bent off
Wright Phillips ON - Walcott off

As for inexperienced keepers (joe hart) Casilias was spain number 1 at age 21 and took them from qualifying to the last 8 where they only lost on penalties..

Thats true but their country has a very stand out world class keeper.

We have some good keepers, and joe hart is probably the best of the lot all round, being young shouldnt make him a worse choice.

Watching him in the under 21 squad last year he was quality, i know its a different comp but there is still pressure.

There is a case for playing Crouch as an out-and-out striker on his own, with Rooney as an attacking midfielder, cos Rooney'slong-range shooting is very good, and he does defend too.

30stone

Crouch has limited talent though and is crap against top defenders..

Nemo123

Crouch has limited talent though and is crap against top defenders..

He's got surprising good feet, and all he's got to do is get his head to the ball for the others to follow up.

If England played to their strenght, it may no be very pretty, bt it would be effective.

England might have been better appointing Trap instead of Capello, as that's how he's structured the very more limited Ireland, and we were an inch of getting thru in a group that included Italy and France.

Nemo123
30-05-2010, 02:37 PM
The Charlton way:

Put 'em under pressure when they have the ball, and when you have it by-pass the midfield hoofing the ball up to your trget man. Hussle for the ball, looking for second phase possession either off your man or theirs.

Not pretty, but effective.

I cant remember for england but watching crouch play for spurs was painful the amount of times he loses it because he gets his legs tangled and his touch is poor..

His heading isnt even very good he needs like 4 clear attemps usually.

Croatia is the best team hes ever scored against internationally.

He scored most of his goals against really really average teams ( he would be good playing solvenia and albania) sure to score.

We play him against holland.. spain.. brazil.. germany even italy he wouldnt score i dont think.

Carragher should be no where near the squad, retired from the international scene just to come back when the time is right for him, glory hunter

Also he would get raped by most wingers if we played him RB, and we really need to have Johnson at RB as he can attack as well as defend

Carragher would be my second name on the sheet after Rooney. He's got a better brain than most, and he anticipates danger.

Yeah Holland are definetly the best. Denmark are good, but you got to put into account that Sweden aren't half as good as they used to be. Their good players are getting old, and they don't really have any great new-comers.

Glad we got the win:).. it is about results after all, players have a lot to work on in training before it starts because the first half performance was really disappointing and very slow.

^ Here comes King Bitter....

The dummy that was spat is still on the floor in the Shed...

Didn't see the game but sounds like it wasn't our best. Still, a wins a win (another one) and we're ready to go :hello:

yeah. a win, is a win, even if it's thanks to 2 own goals. Having said that, I'm still dead proud of how well Japan played, really showed their skill and determination. Boy, can the Japanese run!

Ffs what was that ****e? We've got no chance if we even play half that bad.

My 23;

Hart, James, Green.

G.Johnson, Ferdinand, Terry, A.Cole, King, Carragher, Warnock.

Lennon, Lampard, Barry, Gerrard, J.Cole, Milner, Carrick, A.Johnson, Wright-Phillips.

Rooney, Crouch, Heskey, Defoe.

Not to make it;

Baines, Dawson, Upson, Huddlestone, Parker, Walcott, Bent.

Not sure about Walcott, he doesnt seem to have anything else than pace ... which Lennon has & more.

Risk A.Johnson & Barry.
