that World War III will start this year, in the Middle East, and the end of the world (Armageddon) will be in 2012. He predicts that extremist muslims will triumph in all Middle East countries and that the first nuclear strike will be made by Iran on New York in Nov 2010, quickly followed by one on Rome. The end of the world, Nostradamus said, would be preceded by an increase in major natural disasters (tidal waves, earthquakes, volcanoes).

Nostradamus made some scarily accurate predictions such as 9/11, Hitler and World War II, the death of Princess Diana, the Kennedy assassinations, the Great Fire of London, the Emperor Napoleon etc. Is it possible that his prediction for the end of the world in 2012 is true?

Is it possible that someone who lived 500 years ago had premonitions of such events? What do you think?

I don't believe so for a minute - superstitious nonsense! But I do believe that the Muslims will start World War 3 - thought that for a long time!

According to Nostradamus the name of the third antichrist is mabus. The other two being Hitler and Napoleon. The third world war according to Nostradamus will last for 27 years and will be the worst war this world has ever seen. The end of the world according to his quatrains is in around 3000+. Before this war there will be someone who everybody believes but unfortunately he is the third antichrist. His death will signal the third world war.

Nostradamus predicts that the reign of this antichrist is very short and is around the same time as he predicted the muslim invasion of europe. Britain will no longer be great and the seas between us and France will run red with blood also at this time.

I used to believe him but there is a line within his quatraints which no one can decipher which anybody can interpret to mean anything.

Interpet the 3rd quatraine - I'm sure his predictions were 3, 5, 9, 23, 27, 64 for the Wednesday draw

Wow never knew this, I hope this doesn't turn out to be true but some of his predictions have turned out to be so you never know.

And in any case, who gives a bollox about the end of the world predictions? We're hardly in a position to change matters - and even if we were we'd need alot more evidence than the incoherent ramblings of one mystic to persuade us - so if it happens it happens. Sure that whole prophecy of his about the 9/11 attacks sounded more like the plot outline to the Lord of the Rings.

No they have not. Third parties have merely linked what he has said with modern world events. Nostradamus never, for instance, explicitly stated that any of these exact events would happen in plain English in any of his works.

It always amazes me how fast people are to believe in something just because they read a few lines on the internet.

But if it actually does happen, and we find ourselves living in a post-apocalyptic world, I bags being Mad Max.

You can be Snake Plissken then but we'll need to rope in a nerdy scientist or engineer type in order to survive. Otherwise we'll drown in our own butchness.

Don't believe any of it, but it is a fascinating subject that I have always been interested in. You can read anything into these things with a bit of imagination.

He's as mad as a hatter, but an excellent actor and director.
