Former kids TV presenter Konnie Huq has become the new presenter of The Xtra Factor, it has been revealed. Konnie becomes the fourth host of the show, taking over from Holly Willoughby who announced last year she would be leaving the programme to focus on her ‘This Morning’ role.

On confirming her new job, Konnie said: “I am delighted to be joining The Xtra Factor team.

“It’s amazing to be a part of one of the most popular and well-loved shows on television and I can’t wait to get started.”

Claire Zolkwer, ITV’s Commissioning Editor for Entertainment, said: “We’re thrilled that Konnie is going to be joining Xtra Factor.

“Her broadcast experience alongside her enthusiasm for the show will be a great asset to ITV2.”

Richard Holloway, Head of Entertainment at TalkbackTHAMES, added: “I’m delighted that Konnie is joining The Xtra Factor team I’m sure she will bring her own distinctive style to the show.”

Previous presenters also include Ben Shephard and Fearne Cotton.
