If you dont know what you want to do yet, why dont you stay on and do A levels, that way you have more time to decide.

Have you looked at apprenticeships? They're a good option if you don't like academic subjects.

Do your A levels...

Lucy.

See, I was in your position and thought staying on for A Levels would be a good plan however now 2 years later I am once again clueless + I now feel like I've wasted two years doing extra work for no point. I'm not saying it doesn't work, for most people it probably does, just be wary.

Apprenticeships are always a good option, little more taster into things.

What are your hobbies then? Try and find something you like, then find a why to earn a living from it. You dont want to spend 40 yrs in a job you hate!

You won't fail at everything though.

Get careers advice, and leave school and work. That's what I did after my exams. I was 16.

i've talked to people about this too. but i don't want to go to college or anything like that because i'm just not clever enough to get a really good job.

and a few i've spoken to are at college and yet they still don't know what they want to do. so i'd be worried that i'd be like that too. then it's like wasting a couple of years tbh, when you could have gone and got a job already.

Now, I'm a full-time mum, but before that I was an office administrator. I got my HND through my employer, while still working full-time and getting a wage.

I am sure Mcdonalds will be recruiting! lol

But anyways... come on.. surely you have an interest.. and then try and pursue in that.

In this day and age it is not easy just to get a job! especially for a 16/17 year old.

Just look at college, prospectuses and have a gander what range of courses are on offer. A levels, apprentices, diplomas, the works!

Aye, I was just going to suggest... why don't you do a National Diploma or something? I am either doing my a levels, or a national diploma in backstage theatre.... which is something I enjoy... you could see if there are any that take your fancy? xxx

I disagree.

Especially for a boy. There are a load of apprenticeships out there which favour hiring males.

Are you interested in getting a trade Loukas..? (Mechanic, Plumber, Electrician, Joiner, for example).

Sooo wrong!

I live like, 200 yards from Airbus - in which has thousands and thousands of people working there. Each year they allow 150 new apprentices to join, normally about 400 apply. This year they've had 3000+.... they're getting harder to get!

Last year it was, my mate tried all the time and couldnt find anything, its only because the industry has started picking up again that he found one last month.

As for loukas, from what ive seen and no offence intended, but i dont think he would want to do that/ fit in on site.

I went to sixth form for a year and a bit..... decided to leave.. got random jobs but nothing permanent seeing as though I was only 17. Went back to college to do a Diploma in Travel and Tourism.. left and luckily I am in a job I am content in. Eventhough my hours have been cut at the moment! I would have gone to uni if I didn't have a job.. but it would have been for the sake of it.

Wow. That's pretty bad. I guess it depends on the area you live in as well. This area has always had a pretty high level of unemployment, but there are also a hell of a lot of people here who don't want to work, which does leave a lot of jobs open for those of us who do.

i think a college would be best for you as like - well your a bit similar to me and college was the best option for you.

you are amazzzeddd at how much of a variety there are, and you get to meet new people and make new friends and its just an amazing experience you dont want to miss out on.

id suggest go to college and if your acedemic and better at exams then do a-levels.
or if your less acedemic and more practical then do btec.

or if your a bit of both then do a-levels and some a-levels do have both sides.

im doing a level drama and its a bit of both and im loving it.
maybe youll be good at drama? i dont know though.

im just making a suggestion but i advice you to go to college and either do one of the above.

hope i helped x

First off Stop worrying. If its something you have control over that causes you to worry dont worry about it, make the changes needed to affect the outcome, If its something you cant change or you have no control over worrying is a waste of time.

Second concentrate on your GCSE's the rest of your life can be sorted after you get through them. But having the best set of GCSE's you can obtain is a good grounding for the future.

After your GCSE's are over you can consider all the options available to you, resitting failed GCSE's, A levels or college, a job, an apprenticeship, the forces, dropping out, drug running or selling your ass to rich old men.

Think each option through and make a list of pros and cons, also consider best and worst outcome you could achieve in each option, then if need be put all the options in a hat and pick one out. In other words dont worry about the rest of your life just now, concentrate on whats important now, and thats your current exams, get them over with and then look at the rest of your life.
