Disabled Housemates- Yes or No?

I know I sound like a right idiot posting this but if a disabled housemate goes in then one finalist is pretty much confirmed. Nobody will nominate them, they will probably definatly get to the final. Verne and Mikey- prime examples, both disabled and both got to the finals.

So please no Amin and please no blind guy or or one legged woman. They might be lovely people though :--)

As someone with a disability; I'm in a wheelchair, I'd like to thank you for your insight. The thing you need to remember is that while there are a lot of people who wil feel some kind of sympathy towards the woman with a disability (if she even goes in) there are (and you can trust Me on this) plenty who couldn't care less, so I don't think it's as predictable as you do.

Don't forget, there was Sophie last year who had some form a of disability, and although she was cheered the night she went, the public turned against her quite soon after. The point is, it's not the disability that makes a difference, it's the person who has it.

You need to remember as well, every single year the women get booed even before they've gone in in the first place, with women being -that- unpopular why even bother having them in? answer: to give them the chance to be on the show and win (although, women -tend- only to be seen as furniture by viewrs to the show and the competition is played out amongst the men).

He was extremely irritating and I think the other hm's didn't want to nominate him because they thought they would come across as nasty to the public. out of the 2 possible weeks of nominations in celeb bb, verne got 2 nominations and came a lowly 4th on the finals night gaining a measly 15% of the public vote...Sort of blows the sympathy vote theory away don't you think?

True but what I was talking about is that the other hm's may not have wanted to nominate him through fear of being portrayed as nasty in the outside world. Verne isn't a good example of that as he was a good, entertaining housemate and deserver his place in the final imo.

I've got no problem with disabled people going in and I do not think they get a free pass to the final. Pete was a great bloke, true some more simple minded people thought he was great because he swore alot, but he was a decent bloke, IIRC he was the only person who didn't gang up on Shahbaz (I know Shahbaz was a pain in the arse, but he didn't need to be ganged up on) He didn't bitch like most of the others, he was really entertaining and IMO he deserved to win. Mikey had his moments, he wasn't one of my favourites, but he had a sweet friendship with Rachel that people loved and he wasn't worried about saying what he thought, he could be quite funny with it too. Verne wasn't that great, but he also had his moments. Sophia had lupus before entering the house but she was kicked out pretty quick because she was a bitch.

So basically 1 disabled person wins and you say all disabled people will win? That hasn't actually happened though has it?

We are not aliens, we are normal people but just cannot do things average people can do such as run. But then again a really fat lazy person cannot run anyway.

I havent said "we are all the same" have I? I was saying that a disabled person can be a total idiot or a nice person. Doesnt matter what their body enables them to do or not to do does it?

I hate it when there is "pity" for someone that is disabled. Why should there be pity? A lot, if not most disabled people live just as good of a life as a non disabled person does.

I know many people who are lazy and cant be arsed with doing basic things yet because someone is disabled they are praised just for doing "normal" stuff. Sure I have to take a cocktail of painkillers to get through the day but I have a great life, everyone should be given the same opportunities.
