Saw a brief clip of it on Richard and Judy last night.

I have to say as a midwife, it was tastefully done, and the baby looked beautiful!!

There was something very sweet about all the housemates waiting in the next room, and hugging each other when they heard the baby cry.

That's just how it used to be here when babies were allowed to be born at home as the norm, rather than the exception.

Most babies are still born at home in Holland and they have a really good safety record.

Congratulations to mother and baby, and housemates! Not half as voyeuristic as everyone feared.

From what I can make out, Mother Tanya is up for eviction this week. It seems that her housemates are already fed-up with the time she spends looking after the baby, and the forum is full of people posting about Tanya smoking around her baby. They are not impressed. Neither should they be, although she is at least sitting outside to do it.

How can the housemates be annoyed with her for spending a lot of time with her newborn baby?:puzzled: What did they expect her to do?

Dutch Big Brother mother quits show after jibes
Thu Oct 27, 2005 1:00 PM ET

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - A contestant on the Dutch "Big Brother" reality television show who gave birth in the house last week is quitting the program because, fed up with her housemates who accuse her of being a bad mother.

Program makers said Tanja, 27, would leave on Thursday night to be with her baby girl, eager to get away from housemates who joked that she had smoked so much during her pregnancy that the baby would end up breast feeding on tar.

She branded them childish, talkative and manipulative.

"I'm not getting any peace or understanding from the others. I want to enjoy maternity, not feel annoyance," the De Telegraaf newspaper quoted Tanja as saying. "I'll be happy when I am amongst normal people again.

The program's editor said it was a shame she was leaving because she had been "good television".

Versions of Big Brother, where groups of strangers are locked in a house and gradually voted out by the audience, first aired in the Netherlands in 1999 and have since been produced in dozens of countries worldwide.
