Big Bro' for baby

Oct 21 2005

By The Evening Chronicle

With her first baby ready to drop any day, former Big Brother contestant Narinder Kaur is looking forward to impending motherhood.

And the 32-year-old, originally from North Tyneside, will have plenty of support to help her once the bundle of joy comes into the world.

Brian Dowling - a fellow star in the show's second series which he won - will be on hand to act as her birthing partner!

He's already been chosen as the baby's godfather but will be at Narinder's side when the big moment arrives and has even cancelled a family trip to Ireland to enable him to complete his duties.

But, with all the plans in place, she just wants it over and done with.

Narinder said: "I've tried absolutely everything to speed things up - from walking lots to drinking raspberry tea, but the traditional method of eating curry isn't helping because I eat too much spicy food anyway. I've loved being pregnant but now I just want my baby out! Hopefully everything will go well and the baby will be healthy.

"My husband will be there as well but he is a bit squeamish. Luckily Brian isn't so it will be perfect to have him with me."

Usually not shy when it comes to telling us what she thinks, bubbly Narinder came over all coy when we asked if she had thought of any names for the baby. She and her husband still don't know whether it will be a boy or a girl as they decided not to spoil the surprise!

It seems Brian has been keen to fulfil his role as godfather, as Narinder explained: "He's so excited, he's so obsessed he's even fixed up a pram for us. He's been finding out everything about giving birth and being a parent. He even rings me up to tell me when there's a programme on the TV which he thinks I should watch."

Brian has already had plenty of practice having been a babysitter for celebrity couple Vernon Kay and Tess Daly.

Narinder, who now lives in London, is looking forward to spending Christmas back on Tyneside with her baby and her family who are still in the area.
